One of the advantages of working at a company with scale: Stripe shipped a relatively minor improvement to one of our products which, by my rough estimate, saves plural engineer lifetimes of maintenance burden across our userbase.
"Was it the fun kind of maintenance burden?"

As someone who had to implement the thing nobody has to ever implement again at three companies, I can report to you, Internet, that at least one repository contains git commit -m 'I am in the tarpit of maintenance hell.'
If you ever want to read a story about how months of effort went into a thing that sounds like it should take a lot less but then gets leveraged to save plural engineer lifetimes of toil, and then write your own stories like that, Stripe is hiring.
