My oily/acne prone skin fam, are y’all still putting coconut oil on your faces in 2019?!😩 c’mon guys we can do better. From neck down coconut oil is a great moisturizer but on your face naahhhhhhhhh. Let me explain why
Coconut oil is primarily made up if saturated fats, this is good for repairing your skin’s natural barrier and retaining moisture however it doesn’t make it good for your face, coconut oil makes a quick work where your skin is thicker but it’s too heavy for most skin types
And leads to clogged pores. Coconut oil also has one of the highest comedogenic ratings, this means it could be a really big problem for those witn sensitive and acne prone skin. it can’t penetrate your pores and so it clogs the pores because it sits on top of the skin
Although some people believe coconut oil is a facial skincare magic, coconut oil will act as a barrier and can cause or worsen acne prone skin
My point so far is that while coconut oil is actually great for a variety of skin conditions, for most people using it on your face will likely result in more breakouts and clogged pores
