"you can always get another day job" is the dumbest most oblivious white tech boy shit i have seen in my life. i know two types of people: those who have been employed in a chain of jobs attained through nepotism or the tech industry since they were 17, and people who struggle
if you don't program you can't "just" get a job. it's fucking months of effort. taco bell isn't hiring. the 90s are fucking OVER
if you work for less than $60k a year getting a new job takes upwards of six months. fuck off. go eat shit. piss up a rope. jobs are FUCKING FAKE. THE 90S ARE OVER.
i can't name any friends who have successfully gotten any of the garbage retail or fast food jobs they applied for since like fucking 2008.
people aren't upset about not having good jobs nearly so much as they're upset that they just can't get JOBS, PERIOD, FULL STOP. stop being a white tech boy, shut up
btw everyone who programs got their first job doing it at 18 and understands mathematics or like group theory bullshit that looks like particle physics to most people. if you program your privilege extends beyond access to money or schooling, your brain has shit mine doesn't.
i can never do what you do. i came up the same way you did, nice comfortable childhood where i started trying to learn at 12, and it didn't take. it didn't work. i don't get it, and I'll never get it. that route is closed to me forever.
i barely fucking understand networking enough to get by in this job. everyone tells me every job is bullshit and i don't need to know that much and i'm like THANKS, THAT DOESN'T FUCKING MAKE ME FEEL BETTER
because that translates to "apply to shit you aren't actually qualified for" so if i'm going to do it for one skill i don't have, why not another? why not all of them? why not apply to be a fucking AI programmer? who gives a shit

anyway if you can quit your job voluntarily i have advice for you: shut the fuck up, and never, ever tell anyone else that you can do that, or that they should. you are wrong and you should go enjoy your privilege in private.
i'm not mad at you for having it. it's not your fault. but you need to understand that your advice is fucking offensive and if you say it everyone's going to hate you forever. all you have to do is: not say it. it's not hard. shhh.
