Would be interesting to see these sorted according to those "core group" categories from a couple of years ago
Let's do it! Here's the old Core Group lists labourlist.org/2016/03/leaked…
I would double-check everything I say here, but my count there are five MPs who voted against a second referendum not on the lists, in most cases because they weren't elected until afterwards. These are Hill, Madders, Peacock, Smith L and Snell.
Of the remaining twenty-two, three are Core Group, i.e. very pro-Corbyn, these being Campbell, Morris and Skinner.
Four are Core Group Plus (generally well-disposed to him) these being Champion, Cooper, Hepburn and Lewell-Buck.
Seven are Neutral But Not Hostile, these being Barron, Cruddas, Fitzpatrick, Fovargue, Hoey, Jones H, and Stringer.
Six are Core Group Negative, these being Jarvis, Jones K, Mann, Smeeth, Spellar and Twigg.
Finally, and two are Core Group Hostile, these being Flint and Onn.
As far as I can see this is a perfectly balanced group: one more Core Group than Hostile, two more Negative than Core Group Plus. So on this accounting, there is no overall leaning, either towards or away from Corbyn, among Labour MPs who opposed a second referendum last night.
