I am totally floored by how many people didn’t know Biden is touchy-kissy.

I thought everybody knew that. He has been that way forever. I totally thought everyone knew that.
Also totally surreal for me as a man to be arguing that men shouldn’t kiss women without consent and then getting replies from women saying it’s no big deal.
Apparently my mom had never heard this either. That totally amazes me. I entirely thought everyone knew this.

Hop in my car in a parking lot and see a police officer waiting in a car at the exit.

Pull up next to him. He looks over and says:

“Looks like your license is suspended. You should get that sorted out.” and then smiled and waved.

1/
Turns out it was a DMV error. It wasn’t suspended.

But on that officer’s screen, I was guy committing a violation that carries a huge fine, further suspension and impounded vehicle.

Smiled and waved.

2/
On the opposite end of the spectrum, driving through a predominantly Black and Latinx neighborhood late one night, car goes by, whips around and turns on its flashers.

Seconds later, officers are at both my front windows pointing guns at me.

As my son gets older, the changes come naturally to him. He’s just a kid growing up in the way that kids do.

I’m the one who has to adapt and bend to what he needs from me and what works for wherever he is.

This kid-to-preteen jump has been sudden though... and hard for me.

1/
To be honest, I was a little slow off the blocks and wasn’t keeping pace.

He grew up about three levels overnight and I was still two behind.

But then I had a little talk with myself about how I play this role: I adapt to what he needs from me and our relationship.

2/
I adjusted how I parent.

I gave him room - and fully blessed his wanting it.

I showed that I’m truly happy about the sudden added importance of his social life and the new closeness of friendships of a kid growing up.

a lot of the times when we said our phones were tapped or our rooms were tapped, no one believed us. A lot of the times they knew things that they only would have known through surveillance, a major fucking gaslit, thinking we were reading too much into things, but we weren’t
your so called democratically elected gov was spying on us & using that information to target and victimise young people who were fighting for free education. What a fucking wow
i still remember the day I was arrested and saw a large fucking file of photographs and information about my whereabouts on campus, daily we were being surveilved, so imagine the trauma, but wow, the machinery behind it all works hard and it’s alive and well

Like, nah dude, the Dems want to play footsie with their loyal opposition. *I* want revenge.
With rare exception the party leadership is made up of people who have never had to worry about the rent.

What could they want revenge for? Not getting that promotion as early as they wanted? Capital gains not covering that second vacation of the year?
Or is it that rich people think passive-aggressive jockeying for personal power IS “revenge” and I just missed it because lol that ain’t how revenge works where I’m from

The caravan camps overnight in small towns that have so far provided potable water (and good Samaritans on the roadside hand out bags of water). Towns also provide toilets, for a few cents or for free.
