if science wasnt the state religion no one would care about increasingly high resolution images of random things that dont matter. a continuous stream of pure novelties must be brought forth from the sacred halls to maintain the atomic priesthoods authority
even if space stuff is real theres no way spending years of effort and a ton of money to get a high res jpg from the stars can be considered wise when people are still starving and dying of heroin overdoses. its pure fetishization in the literal sense

The entire liberal media was wrong on that. And that's not the only fake news exposed today/yesterday: The media has been lying about Roger Stone having advanced knowledge about Wikileaks dump, but a newly released text message proves Stone was telling truth - media lied, again
So if Jim Acosta would like to issue a public apology for lying to CNN's viewers (both of them) than maybe he can get his pass back. He was obviously dead wrong, even though he said it in a way (which is typical) where there was no doubt what he was saying was true, but it wasn't

For the last 24 hours I've been texting & calling with refugees in Libya. 500 are apparently stuck in a Tripoli prison w/o food & water after heavy fighting broke out two days ago. They say their guards ran away, leaving them alone.
These refugees are men, women & children. They tried to cross the Mediterranean earlier this year, but were found by Italian boats, who turned them over to the EU-backed Libyan coastguard, who put them in prison. The conditions were already terrible before the fighting started.
Oh the phone earlier I could hear children crying & what sounded like bombing in the distance. The refugees say everyone's incredibly frightened. "We hear machine guns, tanks, big bombs, last night from the roof it was all fire."

So today's thread is about pursuing your dreams.
I cannot stress this loud enough, I could not possibly say this often enough, but if you have something you want to do, some thing you want to make, some person you want to talk to, some goal you want to achieve - go do it.

No, it's not easy. But that doesn't mean don't do it.
I look at my adult life and I see a few clear schisms, a few moments where I had very little choice but to change and change hard, because I had boxed myself into some kind of corner.

These are also the moments when I strayed farthest from my dreams.

Unreal. Atlanta (and Georgia) still have plenty of prosperity & inequities. But what prosperity they do have is directly related to infrastructure spending and investment in public education.
Let's really break it down for right-wing Louisiana State Senators who somehow think we're going to tax cut our way to prosperity. In New Orleans, a whole lot of middle class folks feel they have to send their children to private school, and they shell out beaucoup $$ to do it.
In Atlanta and most of Georgia surrounding the metro, middle class parents send their kids to *public K-12 education.* That allows them to spend those thousands of dollars on something other than K-12 tuition.

Think that might have something to do with Atlanta's prosperity?
