Thread on the attack on transgender rights
More on the attack on transgender rights. Read this history; note the intensification. This is horrific in its own right for transgender people, who need support, but also shows how dangerous it is to dismiss threats and rhetoric early.
Last year some were calling the attack on transgender people a "distraction". Not only is that claim demeaning to people under attack, it ignores that the state focusing early and heavily on an already maligned and marginalized population is a standard procedure of autocracy.

For the business people & firms, you better pray PDP wins at the courts
This isn't the first attempt by this admin to increase VAT. I can tell you for free that it is likely going to be a 50% increase from 5% to 7.5%

They tried increasing it to 10% some time in 2016, but the outcry from the Private sector made Fowler & co. shelve the idea
Anyone familiar with the "multiplier effect" concept would easily understand that the real effect on the citizens (especially the poor) will far exceed 100% on costs of goods & services

This is because this additional VAT costs would simply be passed down to the consumer

What are we thinking?

How much of America is now owned by our adversaries b/c of someone you or I voted into office? We wring our hands while our govt allows American land to be sold to some of the same people who kill our son's an daughters in war or plot terrorism here.
Now we're dependent on Google, the same company who's willing to build communist China their own internet. How can we trust a company who is willing to do that who also possesses so much of America's information? Think about how much of our infrastructure is now tied to Google?

According to a 19th century legend, the Truth and the Lie meet one day.
The Lie says to the Truth: "It's a marvellous day today"!
The Truth looks up to the skies and sighs, for the day was really beautiful.
They spend a lot of time together, ultimately arriving beside a well.

Again, The Lie tells the Truth: "The water is very nice, let's take a bath together!"!
The Truth, once again suspicious, tests the water and discovers that it indeed is very nice.
They undress and start bathing.
Suddenly, the Lie comes out of the water, puts on the clothes of the Truth and runs away.

The furious Truth comes out of the well and runs everywhere to find the Lie and to get her clothes back.

The most common form of propaganda is repetition.

This is why the @BBC repeat over and over negative stories about Labour and its Leadership but, have hardly ever said anything about the incredible criminality of the Conservative Party and its Leadership in last 8 years.
Importantly, this also applies to outright #lies.

Mark Twain said "A Lie Can Travel Halfway Around the World While the Truth Is Putting On Its Shoes," and he was right.
But in today's world with instant communication it takes but the utterance of a lie a single time by a institution like the @BBC for a lie to be believed.
