it's gonna be short and sweet~
Jungkook found it impossible to tear his eyes away from the graceful blond man.
Jungkook needed a mentor for his philosophy class and, as fate would have it, Namjoon's name was at the top of the list he received.
Which is how Jeon Jungkook became friends with Park Jimin.
They were out drinking - all seven of them - but Jungkook had seen Jimin dancing with Yoongi and Taehyung and he sulked, unable to stop the jealousy from curling inside him.
"Kookie, no! Here, I'll walk you home!" Jimin offered, leaving no room for argument.
Jungkook's heart melted when Jimin looked up at him with a soft smile.
"No, I can definitely walk, hyung. My head was hurting a bit, that's all." Jungkook promised.
"It's not your fault, hyung! I don't want to ruin your night, please don't worry about me!" Jungkook protested, but Jimin just shushed him, moving closer again to press their bodies together.
"T-thank you, hyung." Jungkook wrapped his arm around Jimin and carefully held him a bit closer.
"Hyung." Jungkook whispered, his heart bursting.
"I mean, honestly, what college kid doesn't?"
"Jiminie-hyung."
"It's a basic necessity, Kook, you need to take care of yourself."
"Jimin!" Jungkook shouted.
"Oi, have some respect, kid!" He griped, not unkindly.
"Hyung, no, I just -" Jungkook doesn't know where he got the courage - perhaps it was the alcohol still pumping in his blood, the tightly coiled jealousy from earlier, or maybe it was the +
Maybe it was the concern shining brightly in the other's eyes.
Or maybe Jungkook was just tired of pining.
"Hyung, I really like you."
"No - h-hyung, you're misunderstanding me." Jungkook stammered, frustration building in his gut.
"What do you -" Jimin began, but Jungkook had already gotten off the bed.
"Jiminie-hyung," Jungkook breathed, their faces inches apart. "I really, /really/ like you." Jungkook cupped Jimin's face, tracing his cheekbones with his thumbs.
Jimin's soft, plush lips underneath his were euphoric.
Jimin slowly opened his eyes and smiled wider than Jungkook had ever seen before.
"I'd love to."
It had been a few weeks - finals were over and summer break had begun and Jungkook and Jimin were boyfriends.
Jungkook quickly replied to Jimin's good morning text with a flurry of heart emojis, once again wondering if it was too soon to say those three magic words.
JM: btw joon and i were going to go shopping today, do you wanna come w/ babe?
Jungkook chewed on his lip before replying.
JK: yeah, i'll be there
JM: yay! we'll come pick you up in like an hour?
JK: okay baby 💞
Jimin had stopped touching him when they started going out.
Jungkook, being the disaster gay he was, didn't make many moves to touch Jimin either.
And with Namjoon... the problem got worse.
Jungkook didn't realize at it first, but it had become glaringly obvious real quick.
Jungkook wanted to scream sometimes.
/I'm your boyfriend and I'm right here! Touch ME!/
His worst fear was that Jimin had realized that he didn't like Jungkook and was only staying together with him out of pity.
Jungkook prayed that wasn't the case.
-----
"Didn't realize you were into death metal, hyung." Jungkook grinned.
Jimin looked up, confused, before realization dawned on him.
"Ah, is that what this means?"
Jungkook nodded.
"Ah, I picked it out for the style, but I doubt it would work on me, anyway." Jimin twisted his lips, hanging the shirt back on the rack.
Jimin looked up at him with big eyes.
Jungkook's hands itched to reach out and hold him close.
"I think you look beautiful in everything, no matter what you wear."
"Jungkookieeee," Jimin fidgeted awkwardly.
"Hey guys, which jacket -" Namjoon strolled up holding two large jackets, but his words were cut off by the blond boy barreling into him.
Jimin's face was hidden in Namjoon's shoulder and his hands were clenched tightly around the fabric of the taller man's shirt.
"Whoa, Jimin-ah, you okay?" Namjoon chuckled, bringing an arm around the smaller boy to rest on his shoulders.
"I'm serious though, help me pick out a jacket!" Namjoon insisted, leading Jimin to another section and gesturing for Jungkook to follow.
Why wouldn't Jimin hug /him/?
He used to be so touchy, Jungkook had gotten used to daily hugs and cuddles from the older boy.
Could Jimin be trying to subtly get them to break up?
"You've got to stop doing this, Jimin-ah." Namjoon sighed, gently moving Jimin away.
"I know..." Jimin sighed, uncurling his fists.
"I mean, think about how Jungkook feels when he sees you like this."
"I know."
"It's awkward for me too!"
"I know!"
"I - fuck, I don't know! He's - I... Joon, I've had the biggest crush on him for so long." Jimin groaned.
"He says these wonderful things and he stands there looking so cute and pretty and sometimes he looks so fucking fine and... "
"And?"
"You've literally never had this problem with any of your exes."
"Exactly! That's how much he fucking affects me!"
"Hyung, he's different. I don't even know how to explain it properly. I've just... never felt this way."
"Jimin, you should talk to him. Remember, he's the one who confessed to you. He's probably going through hell right now. I don't want to see you lose him for something this silly."
"Definitely. And give the poor boy a damn hug! He deserves one." Namjoon teased, ruffling Jimin's hair.
---
They were sitting in a small cafe in the mall. Jimin had mentioned being hungry and said that Namjoon would join them later.
Jungkook felt dread coil in the pit of his stomach.
"What? Why are you sorry?" Jimin asked, confused.
"Hyung, I... I know."
"Know what?"
"Jungkook, no!" Jimin burst, his eyes wide and jaw agape.
"Hyung, please!" Jungkook could feel tears building. His throat tightened.
"I - okay, hyung. I... I wish you the best of luck with Namjoon-hyung." Jungkook rushed to get up, trying to hide the tears that had fallen from his eyes.
Jungkook refused to turn around, walking faster.
He needed to get out of there. He needed to escape.
Just as he reached the doors, he felt a body collide with his.
He knew these arms - hell, he'd missed these arms. He'd been craving this touch for weeks.
"Jungkook, I'm sorry. I'm the one who's sorry. I'm an idiot, baby. Can you please let me explain?" Jimin's voice was soft in his ear.
"Of course, hyung."
"Jungkook, I'm a confident person, usually." Jimin began.
"W-what?" Jungkook did not understand where this was going.
"He's just always right there. The man has the worst timing in the WORLD." Jimin huffed out a laugh, and finally, Jungkook could feel a smile spreading over his face too.
"So, I really like you, Kook. I'm just... bad at this. I've liked you for so long now... I don't know how to handle it, so I didn't handle it the right way." Jimin admitted, curling his fingers around the nape of Jungkook's neck.
Jungkook felt shivers run up his spine
"I'll hug you so much that you'll get sick of them." Jimin promised.
"Impossible."
Jimin just clung to him tighter.
-----~-----
"You asked for this, my baby bunny." He grinned cheekily.
Little did he know, Jungkook's heart was soaring.
"What have I done?" Namjoon muttered under his breath.
Jimin just giggled, rubbing his nose into Jungkook's neck. Jungkook pressed a tender kiss to the top of his boyfriend's blond hair.
"Awh, Joonie-hyung is feeling left out." Jimin teased. "Tell him a story or a joke, Kookie. What have you got?" Jimin grinned, leaning in close.
"What do /you/ want to hear, hyung?"
As nice as the skinship was, Jungkook was getting flustered. After their first kiss that night in his dorm room, the two boys hadn't kissed again.
And with Jimin's enticing lips so close to him...
Jungkook shivered.
"Baby, I'm cold. Cuddle me." Jimin demanded.
Jungkook grinned and joined his boyfriend on the couch. This past week had been amazing.
Jimin was no longer hesitant around him and Jungkook was growing addicting to the feeling of their hands linked together.
"Anything, angel." Jungkook carded his fingers through his boyfriend's hair.
"If I ever get too clingy or too much for you, please tell me." Jimin's voice was small.
"I just... Jungkook, if I'm being clingy and you don't like it or don't want it, please just let me know so I can tone it down." Jimin pleaded.
"Kookie, it's just... baby, you never initiate anything. It's always me who asks first or reaches out to you first - and that's fine!" Jimin explained.
Jungkook was frozen.
He tried to think back to a time - any time - where he initiated or reached out first, but he was coming up blank.
"Baby, seriously, it's not a big -"
"No, oh my god, I'm so sorry. I'm a terrible boyfriend!" Jungkook reached up to hold onto Jimin's hands and squeezed.
Jungkook kept kissing Jimin's hands, trailing kisses up the insides of his wrists. Jungkook pulled Jimin closer and adjusted their position until Jimin was propped up against the arm of the couch and Jungkook was between his legs.
A kiss on the cheek.
"Promise,"
A kiss on the other cheek.
"To always,"
A kiss on his forehead.
"Make sure,"
A kiss on his nose.
"That you, my angel,"
A kiss on his eyelid.
"You always feel,"
A kiss on the other eyelid.
A kiss on the bridge of his nose.
"Cherished,"
A kiss on his chin.
"Appreciated,"
A kiss on his jaw.
"Adored,"
A kiss on his ear.
"Worshipped,"
A kiss on his other ear.
this all happens over the course of a month, an epilogue, of sorts.
"Jungkook-ah! I'm fine, I can walk!" Jimin argued, but Jungkook picked him up anyways.
"Angels shouldn't have to walk over such a mess. Your shoes will get all messed up and I know you love these shoes." Jungkook justified, a wide grin crossing his face.
Jimin just smiled.
"I'll be fine, angel. It's just a headache. I just need you." He sighed, resting his head on his boyfriend's shoulder.
"Are you sure?"
Jungkook nodded, his eyes already closed.
"Positive."
"Come on! It's not that big of a deal! I'll buy you more!" Jimin squealed.
"Banana milk is fucking sacred!" Jungkook argued, leaping of the couch and hoisting Jimin over his shoulder.
/SMACK/
"He's been working really hard for the upcoming dance auditions." Jungkook explained, leaning over to softly press his lips against Jimin's.
Jimin's eyes fluttered open.
"Hey, sleeping beauty."
"Babe, what are you eating?" Jimin asked, casually walking into the room.
"Hey angel, come here, try it." He spooned out a large bite and fed it to Jimin.
Hoseok rolled his eyes.
"No, it'll be cute, come on!" Jungkook held out his ice cream for Jimin.
"Fine, but I'm going to bite it."
"And I'll love you either way." Jungkook said confidently.
Jimin's eyes went wide as the camera clicked.
"Um... I mean, I do. I love you." Jungkook confessed, his eyes never leaving Jimin's. "I have for a long time."
Jimin was speechless, his eyes still wide, in shock.
"And uh, maybe it's too fast for you and that's okay, angel. I just wanted to tell y-"
"I love you. I love you so much. I love you more than words can possibly say. I am so, so happy. Jeon Jungkook, I love you."
They smiled, their dripping ice creams forgotten.
"Hey hyung,"
"Mm."
"I love you."
"I love you, but I love my husband more."
"Good thing I'm about to become your husband then, right?"
"The best thing."
