#HongKongProtests - I’ve toured around #yuenlong this morning to check the aftermath of the protest. What strikes me the most is the graffiti of “Liberate #Hongkong, revolution of our times” is everywhere:
It was the election slogan of pro-independence activist Edward Leung in the Legco by-election in 2016. He was barred from running in the subsequent polls & later jailed for 6 years for his role in the Mongkok unrest. The slogan has been fully revived 3 years later:
While there‘re also slogans targeted at the police, there’s rarely one on “no extradition on China”. The graffiti in #YuenLong perhaps is the latest illustration of how the #antiELAB movement has transformed - no longer abt the now-suspended bill but Hkers’ grievances over years
Ending the thread with this:

“We are Hongkonger, we are everywhere.”
