alright it's october time to draw some bionicles
I’ll be Chronicling all the inktober doodles in one thread here
now you may be asking "but what is a bionicle?" and to keep a very long story short, lego was short on cash in the 90's, and took inspiration from star wars to make a toy line with a cohesive story and some mild violence. after a few tries they came up with Bionicle
The name Bionicle comes from Biological Chronical and the main heroes were conceived as what pills do when they enter the body to fight a sickness. So, the Toa emerged from capsules both in lore and toy store shelves.
You may have noticed the two dudes I drew have similar faces. And that’s because Bionicle, taking after the Gotta Catch Em All approach, had collectible Kanohi Masks, each one coming in at least 6 different colors. In the lore they gifted the wearer powers
Having 36+ different kinds of masks of varying rarity to collect made collecting difficult but personal expression and fan character creation easier than ever. This turquoise Kakama here is my pride and joy
i was a little concerned that i had been doing too many drawings and too much talking about bionicle when there's still 30.5 days left in inktober but there's also like 10 years of bionicle to talk about so i've got time.

i should probably make a road map for the month though
I did the road map of what I wanted to do and I am well past 31 so I will be tripling up a lot

Bionicle takes place on the island of Mata Nui, named after the spirit who created the world. The denizens of the island are 6 heroic Toa, 6 wise Turaga, and a whole bunch of Matoran
I have work now but when I get back I’ll talk more about why the matoran was a big deal in the real world
Alright works done time for a story.

Lego was doing real good with Bionicle and McDonald’s rolled out some happy meals with official 7 piece Bionicle sets as the toys. The toys would be a little controversial though
there was nothing wrong with the toys themselves, it was their names. They were called Tohunga, one of the numerous words and from the Maori culture that Lego was using for Bionicle. A Tohunga is a spiritual leader, and a company using the namesake for profit on toys wasn't cool
The Maori people threatened Lego with a lawsuit for the harmful use of their culture. Lego, realizing what they did, changed the offending names and began working on a code of conduct for using folklore as inspiration for their products
So in the Bionicle Lore, something called Naming Day happened and all the characters with names appropriating Maori culture were changed. Slightly. And Tohunga was completely changed to Matoran and was never recognized as anything else.
Yeah this is like the tenth thing I’ve drawn today but the 6 Toa (Tahu, Kopaka, Gali, Pohatu, Onua, and Lewa) were the first ever Bionicle sets. They’d later be called the Toa Mata, for reasons I’ll get into later.
Kopaka (in the white) was my first ever Bionicle and holds a lot of sentimental value to me
i definitely appreciate Pohatu's kicking based upside down torso a whole lot though
After assembling themselves from their shipwrecked canisters, the Toa protected their villages, called Koros from beasts called Rahi. They too wore Kanohi masks, but an infection in the masks caused them to go wild and attack the peaceful citizens of Mata Nui
i'm a terrible chronicler and i should have my PhD in bionicle revoked for not saying it in the initial post, but the mosquito-like rahi that i drew are called Nui Rama
Anyways back to Lore

Something was causing the Rahi to be infected, and it was a being of darkness called Makuta. Originally shown as a rusted and grimy Hau mask, Makuta was the “evil brother” of the slumbering spirit Mata Nui
In order to stop Makuta, and add some story incentive to the collecting aspect of Bionicle, the Toa had to collect 6 Great Kanohi Masks. Once gathered, they would be rewarded a Golden Mask with the powers of all 6 masks.
I will note that the two masks in Pohatu’s left hand in the drawing are Noble Kanohi masks and were not required for the golden mask but were still available for individual blind box purchases and were an important part of young builders making their own Toa or Matoran
if you would like a gold mask you can check out bricklink, they've got them for about the cost of 36 or so normal masks
I’m getting a little ahead of myself here. While the Toa are going on their Kanohi Quest and saving their villages from monsters,Takua, an absent minded Matoran from Ta-Koro was going on his own quest. In fact, he’s the reason why the Toa landed on the island in the first place
Takua's quest is the main focus of the Mata Nui Online Game, a visual novel/point and click puzzle game that you can actually still play today. its janky, but there's some cool stuff in it biomediaproject.com/bmp/files/gms/…
if you don't have time for several hours of fumbling around a nearly 20 year old game, long story short is Takua loses his memory and everyone refuses to call him by name while he helps out the 6 villages with their problems and then spies on the Toa fight Makuta
However, the Toa couldn’t just walk into Makuta’s lair and fight him. Makuta had body guards, the massive crab-like Manas in his lair. They were so dangerous that the Toa would have to combine into two massive Toa Kaita, named Akamai and Wairuha, the Toa of Valor and Wisdom.
When the Toa finish their fight with the Manas, they are reverted back to their usual six, and they face Makuta, who is nothing more than a rusted Matoran, and a lot of blackened lego parts floating around it. He claims that he is “nothing” and “cannot be destroyed.”
An interesting thing about early Bionicle is Makuta representing destruction, a simple part of nature that was painted in the wrong light. As the developers of the Mata Nui Online Game put it: “building was fun, it was just as much fun to destroy...it was all part of the play”
you can read more about it and see some neat storyboards here templargames.tumblr.com/post/625437141…
this theme of using building as an important and positive aspect of Lego is a fairly obvious one but it's one that I like. We see it with Ninjago's "Tornado of Creation" and The Lego Movie's Master Builders. The Lego Movie 2 having the villain Break things is pretty familiar
Combining their elemental powers, the Toa defeat Makuta, for the moment.

Unfortunately, Pohatu and Onua having the element of Stone and Earth respectively make for some repetitious representation of their powers
However, with 10 years of lore and toys and movies, it wouldn’t be the end. Things were just getting started.

Takua had wandered into Makuta’s lair while the Toa battled, and discovered a massive hive of vats filled with what would soon be a dangerous plague on Mata Nui
If the Toa were medicine in a capsule, the innumerable hive mind of Bohrok were manic white blood cells, ready to cleanse any foreign object. matoran included. After his initial defeat, Makuta woke one up. And when you wake one up, you wake them all up.
Bohrok were interesting in that they were mechanical husks piloted by a mask-like creature called a Krana. It would latch onto the unmasked face of a matoran and their body would be joined to the Swarm.

Keeping with the collecting theme, krana came in 8 molds and 12 colors.
Lewa, the Toa of Air, and almost his entire village of Le-Koro were victims of joining the Bohrok swarm
Like any good fictional insectoid hive mind, the Bohrok had not one but two queens, called the Bahrag.
Ironically, the Bohrok being mechanical husks would help lead to their downfall. A resourceful Matoran named Nuparu used parts from a few downed Bohrok to make a punching machine called Boxor, which would be mass produced to fight back against the Bohrok.
This won’t be the last time Nuparu is of importance, but that won’t be for a while
Nuparu wouldn’t be the only one to get a weapon to surpass the Bohrok, deep in the winding caves leading to the Bahrag’s lair were 6 Exo Toa: large mechanical sentries that could be piloted by a Toa.
hope you don't mind if i'm not drawing 10+ things today, it's my birthday and i have things to do
Sadly, the Exo Toa suits, despite their electro-rockets, hindered the Toa’s elemental powers and would prove useless against the Bahrag.
Combining their elemental powers into a singular beam, the Toa encased the Bahrag twins in a substance called Protodermis. With the queens unable to control the hoard, the Bohrok crisis had ended.
After the defeat of the Bahrag, the floor beneath the Toa opened up and dropped them into a vat of Energized Protodermis. This substance would mutate them into the bulkier, mutated Toa Nuva
i would draw a fun little diagram of all the different things that Protodermis but there's not enoigh room in my sketchbook.

this stuff can be a clear water-like liquid, a hot molten metal-like liquid, rock, metal, an organic plantlike substance, and then super power juice
Thankfully, the toa nuva used parts that much more easily represent hands. The toa mata have my favorite design but that two finger thing makes no sense to me and I’d love to find out what they were going for with it
In addition to getting immense power, the Toa Nuva also received something called Nuva Symbols, items that held that power. They were also the keys to the lock holding the Bahrag in their Protodermis prison: the Nuva Cube. If all 6 keys were put in, the queens would be free
This would lead into 2003, which was a very important year for Bionicle. Normally the winter and summer sets would go along with a one year long saga. 2003 had two sagas, the first one revolving around the 6 elite Bohrok Kal trying to wake the Bahrag with the Nuva Symbols
If the Toa Nuva were to somehow lose their Nuva Symbols, they would also lose their elemental power.

This is exactly what happened.
I would like to point out that the Bohrok-Kal were the first Bionicle characters to have elemental abilities that werent just fire/water/air etc. there was electricity, magnetism, gravity, plasma
The toa, without their elemental powers that made being a hero so easy, tracked the thieving Bohrok with the assistance of Takua the Chronicler and Jaller, the captain of the Ta-Koro guard.

They would eventually find themselves back underground, at the nuva cube
A quick flashback because I forgot.

Turaga Vakama gifted Tahu with the legendary Kanohi Vahi, the Mask of Time. It was one of the three most powerful masks ever
Tahu, using the mask of time, slowed the Bohrok-Kal to a crawl, moments before they placed the nuva symbols into the cube. This granted the toa the time to transfer all of their energy into the symbols to overload the Bohrok with power, destroying them.
With the Bohrok Crisis finally over, the Matoran would use the spare parts left over from the Bohrok husks to make upgrades to their old bodies. This would also be when that Naming Day I was talking about earlier would happen.

These updated bodies would be toys later that year
also i wish there were more orange/red bionicles because this marker looks real nice
While the toa and the Bohrok were having their little battle, Makuta was getting ready for his comeback. He was gathering a team of 6 Rahkshi. These creatures were the Sons of Makuta and they were very dangerous

This would be the beginning of the second saga of 2003
I’m going to stop for the night so I can do other things but I’m gonna mention some minor things that didn’t warrant a drawing but I think should be brought up, unless I want to get yelled at relentlessly
-all of the water based Ga-Matoran were female. For over 5 years, if you bought a blue Bionicle, she was a lady. I don’t know why they just relegated it to one village either.
-the Le-Matoran all spoke in this odd dialect called Treespeak where they sometimes talk like yoda but more often would pair up words with redundant results

Fire-spitter is a really good name though
-Kumo Rocks, a song from the 2001 Power Pack CD is the best song ever made and I have no idea who made it. somebody please tell me who made it i need to thank them
nice try, kolhii head
speaking of kolhii, it's a sport that's basically lego lacrosse but instead of a ball it's a Rock. it was a big Po-Matoran thing and every player starts the match by saying "Play Well"

"leg godt", Danish for "play well" is where Lego got its name
But back to the Rahkshi

They were important because they had genuine actual Knees. Up until this point every Bionicle just had a single leg piece, or in the Matoran’s case, just an elongated foot.

It was a slightly over complicated rig of a thing but it was a knee
But what would a new batch of Bionicles be without something to collect?

The Rahkshi, like the Bohrok, were machines, piloted by a slug-like creature called Kraata. They were what infected the rahi Kanohi masks back in 2001.

They came in 6 different molds and 42 colors
The Rahkshi followed the Bohrok-Kal with the theme of “powers not based off of obvious elements”

Instead of the red Rahkshi, Turahk, being the fire guy, he was the Rahkshi of Fear. It wasn’t a typo, because Kurahk, the white rahkshi, had the power of Anger
Why was Makuta gathering his sons? Well, Takua was wandering in the caves near his village of Ta Koro and came across a mysterious mask...
minor correction. takua found the mask after dropping a stone warning totem into lava. the stone melted off and the mask was revealed inside it.

i don't care that the drawing isn't correct
Takua had found the Kanohi Avokhii: the Mask of Light. The only one of its kind, it was a legendary mask that would kickstart massive changes for the Bionicle universe.
This is, with a lot less shouting, the introduction to Bionicle: Mask of Light The Movie

Widely regarded as “The Citizen Kane of Cinema”, Bionicle: Mask of Light The Movie is the first ever film to be called Good.

Lots happens in it and I’m only drawing highlights. Go see it
The Avokhii was to be given to a chosen matoran so they could become the Toa of Light. This seventh toa would defeat Makuta’s shadows and bring Mata Nui into a new age.

Jaller was unknowingly roped into finding that matoran, and so he then roped Takua into joining him
While they were gone, the first wave of the Rahkshi (Guurahk, Lerahk, and Panrahk ((blue, green, brown))) completely destroy Ta-Koro, the last place the Avokhii was seen. Tahu’s mask is also damaged by Lerahk’s poison staff.
while tahu's hot headed personality is much, much more exaggerated in the movie, his entire village losing their homes made him very irritable. Lerahk's poison didn't help his mood either.
Gonna spend the rest of the night doing some more cleanup on lore stuff I missed. This is going to only get worse as this goes on.

-every mask had powers but only toa and Turaga could make use them. toa wore “Great” kanohi masks and Turaga wore weaker “Noble” kanohi masks
This explains why matoran need toa for protection from extra dangerous danger, otherwise someone with a mask of strength or shielding could be doing the protecting themselves from Bohrok or Rahi
However, in the mata Nui online game, we see a Ko-Matoran named Matoro use his mask of vision to zoom in on something. This was later explained as having a scope built into his mask.

I think just letting matoran have weaker masks would have been cleaner storytelling but thats me
Uhh let’s see what else

Romantic relationships were treated with a firm “none of that, now” by the folks in charge of Bionicle. Not exactly sure why but I like to think it’s because all the toa called each other brother/sister.
This didn’t stop Mask of Light The Movie from having a small handful of scenes of Jaller and the Ga-Matoran Hali flirting. Probably to give Jaller a case of the Straight before he went on a feature length journey with another dude
Jaller and Takua’s journey to find the seventh toa leads them to the jungle, where they’re met by Lewa. He offers to shorten their trip by giving them a ride on a Gukko bird. The Gukko and Jaller would be one of the 4 titan sets released alongside the movie.
in the movie, lewa asks them if they've ever rode a gukko and takua says "i've been a second, but never flown one myself" and i had no idea what he meant until i got through the Mata Nui Online Game, where he's the second rider on a gukko with Kongu, one of the main Le-Matoran
The Gukko would take them to the mountains of Ko-koro, where they would meet Kopaka. They would also meet the three Rahkshi that destroyed Ta-Koro. Kopaka would stop them from getting the Mask of Light by freezing them in a small lake
before freezing them in, Kopaka says "Rahkshi, washed and chilled."

this line would set an bar incredibly high for dialogue in film, and it has not been met since
The heralds of the Mask of Light’s path lead from the mountains of Ko-Koro to the underground Onu-Koro Highway. Here, Makuta appears to Takua as a wall of shadow, and makes a deal. Give him the Avokhii, and Jaller and the Matorans get to live.

Takua runs away.
it should be noted that while the mask of light saga happens in the very first movie bionicle movie, there's two year's worth of Takua organizing his community and saving the day to make his sheepish cowardice in the movie feel out of place.

it works though, you'll see
I’m interrupting this to tell you that Bionicle shoes existed
Back to your regularly scheduled documentary thread

Takua didn’t just run away, he also ran away from Jaller. And this was a rude thing to do, especially in the Bionicle world because Unity is one of the cornerstones of their civilization
Somebody in Onu-Koro was united though, and it obviously wasn’t the heralds. It was the last three Rahkshi, and they were hungry to find the mask of light
A few moments later:
-Takua shows up
-The rahkshi destroy Onu-Koro
-Pohatu is immobilized by the Staff of Fear
-Onua loses his strength to the Staff of Absorption
-Tahu and Gali show up
-Tahu, already under the influence of poison, is driven mad by the Staff of Anger and attacks Gali
-Lewa picks up Takua and his giant crab Pewku ON HIS BACK and flies them to safety
-Kopaka shows up and FREEZES HIS BROTHER SOLID
-Kopaka, Lewa, and Gali drag frozen Tahu to safety while the caves of Onu-Koro begin to collapse on Pohatu and Onua
The caves collapse on Onua and Pohatu not because they’re too weak to move. No, they’re fine actually Onua just collapsed the entirety of his home on a pair of Rahkshi
Oh yeah Takua has a pet Ussal Crab named Pewku. Shes a good dog but she doesn’t really do anything so I haven’t mentioned her
Finally, Takua and Jaller are reunited and they continue their journey to find the seventh toa
The Avokhii leads them to Kini-Nui, the great temple in the middle of the island. But they wouldn’t be the first ones to make it there
All 6 Rahkshi had surrounded the heralds, but the Toa finally got their act together. United under a newly cured Tahu, they fight back to protect the Mask of Light.
In the commotion of the battle of the toa and rahkshi, Turahk cornered Takua. But Jaller stepped in and grabbed Turahk’s Staff of Fear and received the full brunt of its power. Even though Jaller was one of the bravest Matoran, the power of the staff would be too much for him.
Jaller dies protecting his friend.

Takua puts on the Mask of Light.
The Avokhii transforms Takua into Takanuva, the Toa of Light
colored it
before we continue i want to spend a tweet or two talking about the actual Mask of Light

at this point, all kanohi masks had a Lego stud that would fit into the "mouth" of a head piece. this would make it easy to knock off, but that was an intended way to Play
instead of a Lego stud, the Avokhii had a small length of Technic axle that would anchor it directly into the head, making it impossible to be knocked off. every mask made after this would have that Technic axle
With the Staff of Light, Takanuva defeats the Rahkshi once and for all
Using the parts of the destroyed Rahkshis’ remains, Takanuva and the rest of the Toa build a vehicle called a Ussanui. Adorned with Jaller’s mask, the Ussanui was what Takanuva used to enter Makuta’s lair.

The Ussanui would be a part of Takanuva’s Titan set
The Ga-Matoran Hali, who may or may not have had a relationship with Jaller, ( I’m not legally allowed to say) stowed away on the Ussanui, to witness the battle between Takanuva and Makuta as she had chosen to take up the mantle of Chronicler
Let’s talk a bit about Makuta

At this point in the lore, he’s more or less “the devil”. He’s a bad guy and he makes bad things happen, but never directly. Since he’s this ethereal thing, his only visual representation so far is a spiky rock and a poisoned matoran
The fluidity in his representation comes to an end when his true form is finally revealed: a hulking mass of pipes and claws wearing the Kanohi Kraahkan, the Great Mask of Shadows
While the Kraahkan is normally worn with the head piece turned around and facing up, it looks pretty similar to the Avokhii when viewed from the “top”.

It also has the Avokhii’s handy Technic axle
one of the strengths of having that Technic axle in the mask allows for more versatility

Makuta's clawlike hands are flat silver Avokhiis turned on their sides
Makuta, showing either a wry sense of humor, or just keeping the stakes low for a story geared for children, challenges Takanuva to a game of Kolhii, a sport that Takua was not very good at when he was a matoran
so a lot of dialogue and stuff happens here and it's too much to draw without cutting into later drawings but to sum things up quickly, Takanuva tells Hali to get the folks together to watch him beat Makuta and wake up Mata Nui

Takanuva beats Makuta 7-1 in the bottom of the 9th
After winning, Takanuva tries to remove the Mask of Shadows from Makuta. The struggle causes the two of them to fall into a vat of energized Protodermis, the same substance that mutated the Toa Mata.

Also, Makuta had used this vat to create the Rahkshi but that’s not important
so what comes out of this vat of energized protodermis has three different iterations, and i am not happy with any of them. i could spend my time drawing my 60th inktober piece as something i don't want to do, or i could just take some artistic liberties

i will do the latter
The energized Protodermis fused the two beings together, creating a combination of light and shadow: Takutanuva
Takutanuva came in three distinct official flavors, each one operating on the limits of mixing two lego sets together and not having any wiggle room with those two sets, so there was some unfortunate redundancy in the Makuta and Takutanuva toy sets
During Takanuva and Makuta’s game of catch, the people of Mata Nui arrived and they were trapped in Makuta’s lair after he caused the entrance tunnel to cave in. The only way out was through a massive gate leading to what Makuta alludes to being where Mata Nui can be awakened.
This gate was just heavy enough for a powerful Toa/Makuta fusion to lift for a few moments while the matoran escape
With the weight of the enormous gate crushing down upon them, Takutanuva uses the last of their power to bring life back Jaller’s mask that Hali had taken from the Ussanui.
the gate falls, and takutanuva is gone
But the Mask of Light slides out from underneath the gate. How? Maybe there was a little bit of life left in it.
Just as Takutanuva revived Jaller, the people of Mata Nui united their power to bring life back to the Avokhii and revive Takanuva
On the other side of the gate was a balcony overlooking the Protodermis Sea, with a mysterious island in the distance.

Everything up until this point is what I would call “season 1” of Bionicle, and this is where season 1 ends. It only took me 11 days to tell it all.
early on i was pretty confident i would be able to chronicle All of bionicle; proudly saying i would be able to get to the reboot and even have time for a hero factory shoutout.

here is a very scientific graph showing why i am now having some slight hesitations
gathered friends, in the upcoming years of bionicle, so much, SO much happens in various books and podcasts and there are numerous incredibly important, world altering main characters with absolutely no visual representation.
during about 2005 something went screwy with my lego magazine subscription and i missed out on the comic books. i thought i was missing out on the entire story but no! i was only missing out on like an 18th of it!
so this will go one of two ways:

-I will continue it in the way of how i've been doing it and inktober will end while i'm halfway through '05's storyline and just say "see ya next year!"

-I will do a speedrun of bionicle lore, focusing on the established toy sets and movies
i hate posting these with my phone because my autocorrect thinks it knows what bionicle is and it'll just throw anything down and shame on me for not noticing i guess
On the shores of the Protodermis Sea, Turaga Vakama tells the Toa Nuva a thousand year old secret
so, spoilers i guess, but the next two years of bionicle is all flashback stuff that takes place 1000 years before the events of the first "season" of bionicle, on the island city of Metru Nui (that's the mysterious island i was talking about a few tweets back)
interestingly turning the first three years of bionicle into technically a post-apocalyptic world, the bustling futuristic city of Metru Nui had the 6 "boroughs" called Metrus and each of them did something vital, such as archiving information or studying stars or sculpting
Under the twin suns of Metru Nui, a young matoran named Vakama was a skilled mask maker in the smelting district of Ta-Metru
so yeah 2004 got another bionicle movie and movie matoran vakama looks like 50% cute little robot boy and 50% baby cow and i wish they went further with at least one of them
vakowma
Metru Nui wasn’t a paradise though. There were troubles, and help was getting scarce. Toa Lhikan was the only toa left in the city, but he had a secret plan to change that.
quick aside:

Toa Lhikan was one of the coldest dudes in bionicle

he came in a really great titan set and his colors were red, black, and gold and he had two giant swords that would combine into a hoverboard
One day at his forge, Vakama was visited by Turaga Dume (doo-mah), the leader of Metru Nui, who asked him to make the Mask of Time.

He was then visited by Toa Lhikan, who gave him a weird burrito looking thing with a map to the Great Temple in it.
a difficult thing about this part of documenting bionicle lore is that i may have to rewatch Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui and Bionicle 3: Web of Shadows, two movies i haven't seen many times because they are unfortunately not the Citizen Kanes of Cinema
As Lhikan hands Vakama the weird burrito shaped package, he is accosted by two monstrous beings. They came from a dirty sneaking double crossing conniving group known as the Dark Hunters, and Turaga Dume had invited them to the city as his personal bodyguards
The big guy was the strong but dim witted Krekka, and the spidery guy was Nidhiki, a former Toa and teammate/brother of Lhikan’s who had betrayed him and joined the Dark Hunters
i don't remember when we found this information out and i don't think the movie says anything about it but like i said we're speed running here
Lhikan gets kidnapped by the Dark Hunters, but manages to get enough time for Vakama to escape to the Great Temple. Inside, Vakama finds 5 other matoran, each with their own burrito package, gathered around the Suva in the middle of the temple
A Suva is a shrine. and placing 6 powerful artifacts called Toa Stones in it can awaken Toa. And it’s a good thing that Lhikan had given 6 Matoran 6 Toa Stones, neatly wrapped in cloth
The matoran placed their toa stones into the suva and were turned into 6 new protectors of the city: the Toa Metru.
The Toa Metru were a massive step in set design. The head piece was able to move, and it had the ability to easily remove its eye piece, something that was originally difficult to do. And while the new mask standard had the axle piece, the new heads allowed for the old stud masks
They also were the debut of a new double sided socket piece, making knees a simple one piece affair. The Toa Metru had these pieces in their shoulders, allowing for another new addition to Bionicle sets: elbows
While some of the toa got less than flashy tools (like Whenua and his ice cream scoops), Vakama got a huge Kanoka Disk launcher with hot rod flames
Speaking of which, Bionicle was starting to tone down on the amount of collectible little things you could pick up, but that didn’t mean it went away overnight. The Kanoka Disks were 2004’s collectible, and they were based off an old Slizer/Throwbots disk mold
In Lore™️, Kanoka Disks had powers and were used for personal defense, sport, and making masks. All the masks that Vakama made as a matoran were made using Kanoka Disks.

As a Toa, Vakama could wear his disk launcher on his back upside down and use it like a jet pack.
i am a pretty big fan of Toa Vakama, he has such a good look
The Toa Metru faced a handful of trials and tribulations, and since the movie glosses over them, I don’t mind doing the same. The more important of these trials was stopping the sentient plant monster, the Morbuzakh, from spreading its vines across Metru Nui and destroying it
the morbuzakh was important because the toa had to collect 6 great kanoka disks to defeat it. however, instead of the usual method of picking up a blind box and hoping to get one of the 6 important things, you could just get all 6 matoran sets, because they came with one each
speaking of matoran sets, i don't think there was ever a year in bionicle that didn't have at least one of the seasons have 6 Big Dudes and 6 Little Dudes
Another major trial the Toa Metru had to deal with was being branded as traitorous liars by Turaga Dume and having to go on the run from the Vahki: Metru Nui’s police force of mindless drones
fun fact, the Vahki were built by Nuparu, who was that guy that made the Boxor out of Bohrok parts i talked about a while back.

He will be more important later
But why would Dume make the Toa criminals? Probably because Dume was actually Makuta in disguise, and he had a plan that needed toa out of the picture for the moment
Being on the run from the law lead to the 6 toa splitting up into two groups of 3. With. Vakama, Matau. and Nokama escaping and Whenua, Nuju, and Onewa thrown in prison with a mysterious Turaga who hid his mask under bandages.
Vakama’s group fled from the Vahki in a huge transport, carrying hundreds of empty spherical pods. While that was an odd thing, Vakama discovered something even more peculiar. The Great Kanoka Disks could fuse together without any special tools or preheating an oven
yes i am well aware i waited until the last minute for that one, it's been a long day
During their time apart, the toa managed to discover their mask powers. Vakama was unfortunately unable to find his by the time the toa regrouped.

Also some of these powers were cool but if you’re a toa fighting the law you’re gonna need more than Rosetta Stone and a flashlight
i'm not sure why this part of the story/a majority of the movie focused on mask powers when that had been an aspect of bionicle for years but whatever
Oh yeah the toa met up again after Nuju used his mask power to break everyone out of prison.

Also the mysterious Turaga reveals himself to be Lhikan, who had his toa power transferred to Vakama and friends when they became the Toa Metru
Nearby, the toa would discover more of those spherical pods, but this time they weren’t empty. Inside every pod was a matoran, put under a deep sleep. Turaga Dume was one of these matoran, and now the toa knew there was an impostor in charge of the city
you could actually make these pods if you had two toa sets and the lids to their canisters. most of the time they'd be different colors because it was kind of rare to double up on the same toa set
The toa go to the coliseum at the center of a now very empty and quiet Metru Nui to discover that Makuta has begun his plan to put the spirt of Mata Nui to sleep and brainwash the captured matoran. Makuta also absorbed the dark hunters and Duke’s pet bird, Nivawk, into his body.
I hate you so much autocorrect I hate you so much
Anyways, any time Makuta shows up a whole lot happens so:

-Vakama fuses all the great Kanoka disks together and carves the mask of time out of the 6 layer disk dip

-Vakama uses the mask of time to try and stop Makuta, but the mask is too powerful for even him
-both of them in slow motion, Makuta fires a Shadow Blast at Vakama

-Lhikan jumps in front of Vakama, taking the fatal full brunt of the blast.

-if youre a Bionicle with a yellow kanohi hau, be ready to die, because thats what Lhikan does
It is here that Vakama discovers his mask is the Great Kanohi Huna, the mask of concealment. Now invisible, he turns the tide of the battle against Makuta as the other toa began bringing the comatose matoran to safety.
The rest of the toa join Vakama and they unite their power to encase Makuta in a crystalline Protodermis prison. They had won the battle, but Makuta’s plan, which would later be called the Great Cataclysm, still happened. Mata Nui and the matoran were asleep
And things were only going to get worse. Even from his crystal prison, Makuta had invited something very dangerous to Metru Nui.
So if you’ve seen the second Bionicle movie, 1: I’m proud of you and 2: you may notice I haven’t mentioned the ending. That’s because the second half of the Toa Metru saga (and the third movie) takes place right before the ending of Legends of Metru Nui.
So if you want to see the movies in lore based chronological order, it’s

1- 90% of Legends of Metru Nui
2- Web of Shadows
3- the last 10% of LoMN
4- Mask of Light The Movie
5-The Legend Reborn
Anyways, the Great Cataclysm left Metru Nui in a very unsafe state. Infrastructure was crumbling and dangerous captive Rahi were now roaming the streets. The toa took a cargo craft filled with matoran pods safely to a far away island. There were a lot of matoran though...
The toa had to make multiple trips to get the matoran to safety and on one of the return trips to Metru Nui, they discovered the abandoned city was covered in sickly green webs. This was because the Visorak, an army of venomous Rahi had arrived, per Makuta’s request.
The visorak capture the toa and inject them with their venom, mutating once the sleek and articulated Toa Metru into the beastial and clunky Toa Hordika
The toa would meet up with the Rahaga. They used to be a group of toa known as the Toa Hagah, but they were all transformed into rahkshi-like creatures. Their goal was to capture and relocate all the Rahi that were set loose during the Great Cataclysm.
while the colorful simplicity of the Mctoran make them my favorite of the Small Fry bionicles, the Rahaga are in a very close second place. its hard to do Small with bionicle and these snake dudes do it with ease.

they also have what i would argue are the best names in bionicle
aside from being good small fries, the Rahaga would add a lot more of the ol' Stuff Going On to the world of bionicle. not only were the Toa Hagah 6 more toa to add to the list, they were former bodyguards for makuta.
now this didn't mean that the Hagah were Bad Guys. Makuta was actually a good guy. in fact, Makuta wasn't just one dude, it was a name given to 100 shadowy beings made from a dark substance known as Antidermis.
The Makuta that we’ve known for 4 years now was an ambitious and conniving being named Teridax. The only conceivable thing to stand in his shadowy way was the Mask of Light, which the Makuta had secretly stolen and hidden away.

Until the Toa Hagah found out.
it is time to draw a bionicle that i have not really been looking forward to drawing

you could even go so far as to say i'm dreading this
it wasn't so bad
During their heist of the Mask of Light, or more accurately, the rebellion against the Brotherhood of Makuta, the Toa Hagah were attacked by the equally conniving and ambitious Roodaka. She was the viceroy of the Visorak and she was one of the Titan sets for 2005.
Also.

I am 90% positive she is the reason for that particular trend in Bionicle fan creations. You know the one.
although Roodaka blasted the Toa Hagah with her Rotuka Spinner and turned them into Rahaga, they manage to get away, with the Mask of Light in hand.
wait, what's a Rotuka Spinner? I'm glad you asked. 2005's action feature was a rip chord based propeller flyer. every single set from 2005 came with one and they were Very easy to lose in your next door neighbor's backyard. thankfully they weren't very collectible.
The rotuka spinners weren’t nearly as interesting as the Lego System Bionicle sets. There were no points of articulation but the Visorak could glow in the dark and having an inch tall Vakama is kinda neat.

I would have preferred an inch tall Metru Vakama though
Anyways the king of the Visorak was the pompous Sidorak.

He was better at scheming than fighting, and he had a rivalry with Roodaka. There was also some like, one sided romantic tension between the two as well, though it’s often seen as simply platonic.
Alongside Sidorak and Roodaka, the third Titan set of 2005 was of the mysterious and mystical Keetongu. A very wise and intelligent Rahi that was capable of curing any toxin or disease.

It could even remove the Visorak venom making its way through the Toa Hordika
Alright let’s rush through this
-Roodaka seduces Vakama and lets him command the Visorak.

-Keetongu joins the remaining toa but refuses to cure them for the moment. He crushes Sidorak to dust.

-Vakama comes to his senses and rejoins the toa. The Rahaga give them the mask of light for safekeeping.
-Roodaka is defeated but this allows for Makuta to be freed from his prison

-Onewa uses his powers to coat the mask of light in stone to keep it hidden from prying shadowy eyes

-Keetongu cures the toa of their Hordika venom, and they are returned to their forms as Toa Metru
-The toa bring almost 1000 matoran to the new island which they named Mata Nui. They transfer their energy over to the pods to awaken the sleeping matoran, this turns the Toa into Turaga.

-a matoran named Jaller had his mask broken, and it was replaced with Lhikan’s Hau.
Everything from 2001 to 2003 happens now.
So to recap, the folks over at Mata Nui went through Makuta Teridax’s lair and wound up on a beach with their original home of Metru Nui in the distance. They sail over and discover that for the past 1000 years, Turaga Dume and the Rahaga have been repairing and refurbishing it.
The matoran would assist in rebuilding Metru Nui, as well as go about their daily lives as citizens of a growing city. However, Jaller would notice that the Toa Nuva and Takanuva were absent. He would bother the Turaga about it for a while.
Eventually, the Turaga would give in and tell Jaller the truth that they didn’t want the matoran knowing: the spirit of Mata Nui wasn’t just asleep, it was dying. And if Mata Nui was to be saved, the Toa Nuva would have to find the legendary Kanohi Ignika, the Mask of Life.
Meanwhile, word was getting around that a Makuta had been killed, and not just any Makuta, it was the leader of the Makuta, Teridax. So, six Dark Hunters abandoned their posts to see if there was any goodies they could find in Teridax’s lair.
Before I move on, let me do a bit of elaborating on the Dark Hunters. Originally it was just the two Titan sets from 2004, Krekka and Nidhiki. But in 2005, Lego held a competition for original fan creations to be added to official lore as the rest of the Dark Hunters.
About 30 entries won, and were added to the 2006 Dark Hunters guide book as official characters, establishing the group as a neither good or bad, but working for the highest paycheck.
Lego would also add more of their own official characters to the Dark Hunters roster, woth 6 of them being the deserters who went looting at Makuta’s lair. They called themselves the Piraka and they were among the first sets to come out in 2006
The piraka are notorious for having the most effective marketing campaign of all time
But anyways, while they were looting Teridax’s lair, one of the Piraka, Hakann, started fooling around with the Staff of Fusion and accidentally used it on his fellow Piraka, Vezok. He was unchanged, but a new being emerged from him. He would call himself Vezon.
Vezon would take Teridax’s Staff of Fusion as his own weapon, but as that happened, the seven Piraka would hear a telepathic voice in their heads, telling them to go to the island of Voya Nui to find the Mask of Life.
The Piraka would arrive at Voya Nui before the Toa Nuva would, and they would pretend to be Toa in order to gain the favor of Voya Nui’s Matoran.
I can’t believe I forgot to do my favorite part about this whole endeavor: talking about the actual sets
The Piraka were an interesting step for Bionicle. While previous toa-style sets all had gears for arm swinging action, the Piraka had no such thing, focusing more on pose-ability and relying on glow in the dark head pieces and light up eye stalks for gimmicks
The main “””collectible””” for 2006 were the Zamor Spheres, something that in lore was a ball that could be filled with energized Protodermis or antidermis. I’m reality it was colorful hard plastic that would easily hit younger siblings in the eye
I said “””collectible””” because there was not much variation between them, and every set came with a bunch because lego knew a majority of them would be lost behind the couch
Anyways in lore, the Zamor spheres would be used by the Piraka to enslave Matoran, who would be ordered to empty Voya Nui’s volcano, and the rumored location of the mask of life: Mount Valmai.

And then the Toa Nuva showed up.
The toa put up a good fight by the Piraka won and threw them in prison without their masks or tools.
Jaller would get tired of waiting for the toa to return, so he gathered 5 other strong matoran to join him in finding them. This group would consist of Hali, Hewkii, Nuparu, Kongu, and Matoro.

4 of the 6 of these matron were the original McDonald’s matoran by the way
Takanuva would join the six little guys but their journey to Voya Nui would lead them to the island of Karzahni, which had a light proof gateway that he could not pass through.
Karzahni wasn’t just the name of the island, it was the name of its crazed ruler. He was originally to repair broken Matoran, but he began punishing them and rebuilding them into strange twisted forms. And he wasn’t a very welcoming host to Jaller and company
Karzahni was one of the first of many Bionicle characters to be stupefyingly important to the events to help sell and enrich the toy line but not get a toy.

Of course, would eventually get a toy (albeit in a different form) years later but the trend was already going strong
Some of these characters don’t get a physical description let alone a toy. On one hand, the side of me who’s life is dependent on visual media is upset by this “”lazy”” concept. But he side of me that works with kids and wants them to “make stuff themselves” is fine with it
If you got enough old bionicle sets, characters like Artakha (Karzahni’s more noble brother) can look like whatever you want, kid
back to business though, Stars were a very important part of Bionicle, they were usually associated with Toa. Gali would know about a seventh toa from a seventh star in the sky, and Vakama would know Lhikan was still alive because his Spirit Star could still be seen
there was one star that was around since the very beginning, the Red Star. It was just a mysterious comet in the Mata Nui Online game, but it would play a very important role in future stories
Karzahni would capture Jaller and friends and take their masks in an attempt to make them lose their identity, but they would eventually escape in 6 unused Toa Canisters, floating on the ocean towards Voya Nui
This is when the Red Star would blast the canisters with a bolt of lightning, transforming the 6 matoran into the powerful Toa Inika

They had organic masks and the power of lightning as well as their elemental power
The Toa Inika were built very similar to the Piraka, but their heads were a flat solid green and white dome that the soft masks would fit on top of.
They also came with some pretty neat light up weapons
also flashing lights warning
With the Inika now in the picture, Lego would make a few more System scaled sets with Piraka and Toa mini figures. These guys were much more poseable and customizable than their Hordika predecessors.
The Toa Inika sets being released would be the start of the Free The Band campaign where the All American Rejects were “kidnapped” by the Piraka with online various games giving clues to their location.

It was no Piraka Rap, though
Meanwhile, Vezon had discovered the Mask of Life. However, the mask, with almost a mind of its own, attached itself to the back of his head and fused him to a giant Fenrakk spider. The Ignika made Vezon its unkillable guardian, and one of the 4 titan sets for 2006
The other Titan sets for the year would also be guardians of the mask of life. The wheel footed Umbra, the stocky Axonn, and the tall, dark, and golden Brutaka.
The Titan sets for this year had a few interesting additions to Bionicle, such as Vezon being the first set to come with a cloth cape piece, Axonn having fingers made of matoran arms, and Brutaka with a whole slew of standard pieces but in pearl gold.

Umbra was fun too.
But anyways the Titan sets that weren’t Vezon were of characters that were a part of a group called The Order of Mata Nui, yet another faction to add to the ever growing list. The Order was dedicated to protecting the spirit and people of Mata Nui, even if it meant by force.
Axonn, Brutaka, and Umbra, were members of that Order who were assigned to protect the Kanohi Ignika, so that it wouldn’t fall into the wrong hands. Brutaka used to work for the Brotherhood of Makuta, and his dark streak sticks with him as he would be an ally to the Piraka
Eventually, the Toa Inika would overcome the guardians of the Mask of Life and would encounter Vezon. During their battle, Kongu used his Kanohi Suletu to read the mind of the mask itself, and discovered that it hated Vezon and wanted a more heroic being, such as Matoro
Matoro would get a hold of the Ignika, if only for a little while
Yes I definitely rushed some things there oh well
With the Mask of Life now at the bottom of the ocean, too far down for even Hahli to dive to, Axonn opens a path called the Stone Cord to the depths for the Toa to retrieve it.
i realize i've been calling Hahli "Hali" and that's my mistake sorry about that folks
On their way down to the bottom of the sea, the toa discover that Makuta Teridax is not dead and doing well enough to briefly possess Matoro
The toa would run into Vezon, and some eel like creatures called the Zyglak, and they would all be submerged underwater.

At that moment, the Ignika, from the ocean floor, would give off a distress signal in the form of a blast of energy to transform the Toa
That blast would hit them and make them able to breathe underwater and swim with ease. Their soft organic masks and lightning powers would disappear in favor of the old standard of Kanohi masks and revolver-like Cordak Blasters

I gave Matoro’s blaster 8 barrels instead of 6 oops
i fixed it
the ads for the Toa Mahri were honestly pretty great
The villains for 2007 would be the Barraki, 6 Warlords who were deemed unredeemable by The Order of Mata Nui and banished to the underwater prison: The Pit.
The Barraki were all based off of real world sea creatures such as sharks and manta rays and crabs, but didn’t bring too much new to the table as far as parts were concerned aside from their eyes

They DID have the Squid Launcher, which shot soft, rubbery squid missiles.
There were a lot of Titan sets for 2007, but the more important ones were of the Jailer of The Pit, Hydraxon, and the the mass produced guard of The Pit, Maxilos. Maxilos came with a dog-like creature called Spinax.
A funny thing about these two is that they weren’t Really who they are. The original Hydraxon was killed during a prison break caused by the Great Cataclysm and was “cloned” when the Ignika’s distress blast hit a matoran named Dekar.
And this particular Maxilos was possessed by Teridax in an attempt to get a hold of the Ignika.
Hydraxon was also, to put it lightly, not the brightest bulb on the Bionicle tree. After being “reborn” his goal was to round up all the escaped prisoners and bring them back to The Pit. These prisoners also included the Toa Mahri, who had only been underwater for like an hour
Later on, the Mask of Life would trade hands many times and would get cracked. Hydraxon would see it and would attempt to destroy it, his reasoning being it is too dangerous to keep around.

Hahli would stop him just before he could blow the only chance at saving Mata Nui
Alright. So.
Voya Nui was originally attached to Mahri Nui, and according to Teridax, the Toa Mahri would have to sever The Cord and bring Voya Nui back to where it belonged, if they wanted to save the spirit of Mata Nui.
Yeah me neither.
The toa would finally get the Ignika, and after sending word to Axonn to bring the Matoran to safety, the Toa Mahri severed The Cord, and scrambled to get the Mask of Life to a safe spot to use.
Matoro, with the Ignika in hand, would outrun the Barraki and their armies, but that wouldn't be enough. The other Toa Mahri chose to stay behind and hold them off and buy Matoro some precious time.
But even that wouldn’t be enough. The once golden and glowing Mask of Life began to fade. After all the effort and trials and danger the Toa overcame, Mata Nui had died.

And then Matoro put the mask on.
In a final blast of light and energy, Matoro would give his life to revive Mata Nui, and bring his fellow Toa safely back to Metru Nui.

alright i've got today and tomorrow to do two more years of Lore and then i'm free.

anyone asking for the reboot will be directed to my patreon where they can help make the number next to the dollar sign be 150
i am sitting here at 1 AM furiously stewing over the amount of things i would like to be able to draw in this short amount of time
i've slept on it and there's literally no way to be able to do what i've been doing for the last two years of bionicle in two days. we get an entire other planet with its own lore on top of the one we've been dealing with
so what i'm gonna do is draw some quick highlights* that i've been looking forward to drawing** and that'll be that.

*for free

**that i won't be getting paid to do
Anyways after Matoro’s sacrifice, the Mask of Life would somehow reach the swamps of Karda Nui, home of the Av-Matoran, the Matoran of Light.
Using the plant life around it, and Matoro’s heroism as inspiration, the Ignika would create a body, calling itself Toa Ignika.

Not to be confused with the Toa Inika, OBVIOUSLY.
Meanwhile, the Spirit of Artakha would approach the Toa Nuva and give them new Adaptive Armor so they can retrieve the mask from Karda Nui
At the same time, the Brotherhood of Makuta would also send a group of six Makuta to Karda Nui to get the mask and to transform the Av-Matoran into obedient Shadow Matoran
So they toa split into two groups of three, one to find the mask in the swamp, and one to stop the Makuta in the sky.

Both the toa and Makuta in the swamp and sky would be called the Mistika and the Phantoka respectively
There would be a lot of Titan sets for 2008, and there’d be a lot of focus on flying vehicles, such as the Axalara T9. There was also a gigantic Takanuva with gunmetal grey armor.
Why was Takanuva a giant? Well he went through a portal to an alternate dimension where the Toa ruled a totalitarian police state and when he returned the spacial changes caused him to grow.

Obviously.
Why was Takanuva gunmetal gray of gold? A little creature of darkness, a shadow leech (the same ones used by the Makuta to make Shadow Matoran) had latched onto him for only a moment and partially drained the light from his armor.

He would be called the Toa of Twilight
update I was wrong about why he was a giant, I must have originally read some wrong information, as this is correct
The Toatalitarian alternate dimension thing is 100% real though it’s from the Dark Mirror Bionicle podcast story
Remember that one making of Star Wars documentary where Georgie finishes the script for Revengeof the Sith and he’s like “yeah there’s a lot of ‘They Fight’ in it”

Yeah the Toa and Makuta sure fight a lot
Eventually, the Toa would reach the Codrex, a large spherical building that housed the means to awaken Mata Nui. Following his inspiration’s footsteps, Toa Ignika would sacrifice himself with a huge energy blast, directly to the heart of Mata Nui.
Hey remember when I said that the original Toa were inspired by medicine from a pill fighting a sickness in a body? Yeah about that.
Mata Nui was in actuality, a mindbogglingly gigantic robot that had been resting under the ocean for thousands of years. This robot was so big that the island the Toa Metru named after him barely covered his face.
Remember how Metru Nui had two suns? They were actually the eyes of Mata Nui, and there would be illusions of a larger world surrounding the islands inside of Mata Nui, even if they really weren’t necessary in this, and I can’t stress this enough, unfathomably big robot
Okay the map is wrong but I’m not redrawing it sorry folks
But anyways, if something can go wrong, it will go wrong, and in this case, it does go wrong.

Teridax’s spirit takes over the giant robot and forces Mata Nui’s spirit into the Mask of Life, and sends it to the neighboring planet of Bara Magna.
Oh yeah everything up until this point took place on the planet of Aqua Magna
But yeah this was Teridax’s plan all along. He put Mata Nui to sleep with a virus and caused the Great Cataclysm. His goal was to one day manipulate someone to use the Ignika to bring the robot back to life so that he could take over and become the Great Spirit
colored it
The Kanohi Ignika, with Mata Nui’s spirit trapped inside it, lands on the desert surface of Bara Magna, and quickly uses the sand around it to create a new body for Mata Nui.

This one would be a lot smaller than his original height of forty million feet, though.
this is where Bionicle: The Legend Reborn, the fourth and final Bionicle movie, takes place. It's the second best of the movies, if only because Michael Dorn is the voice of Mata Nui.

So if you ever wanted to hear Worf say bionicle words do i have a film for you.
A small beetle would crawl onto Mata Nui’s body and the power of his mask would turn it into a massive shield and back again at Mata Nui’s will. Naming the beetle Click, Mata Nui would travel Bears Magna and encounter the Glatorians and Agori, the hardy denizens of the planet
thanks
So Aqua Magna and Bara Magna used to be one planet called Spherus Magna, but the ancient beings who lived there were obsessed with Energized Protodermis and would fight wars over it. Meanwhile, a small group of them called the Great Beings built a giant robot they named Mata Nui
Mata Nui would crash on Aqua Magna and Bionicle would happen, and Bara Magna’s society would focus on gladiatorial arena fights in an attempt at preventing all out war. There would still be groups bent on conquest, such as the Skrall rock tribe, led by the oppressive Tuma.
The Glatorian and Agori had the same kind of build as the toa, following the design scheme started by the Piraka, but has a different kind of head piece. It was translucent and had an axle hole on the top.
Not quite as versatile as the originals but it wasn’t bad
To make a very long story short, Mata Nui would learn to be a hero and would beat Tuma and the Skrall.
There was a lot on Mata Nui’s mind after that. The fight against the Skrall would only be temporary, and even if it wasn’t, the people of the desert planet of Bara Magna weren’t thriving. If only he had his old giant body back, then he could fuse the broken Spherus Magna.
Also I forgot about Bota Magna. It had trees.
As it would turn out, there was the wreckage of a smaller giant robot right on Bara Magna. It needed a lot of work, but if Mata Nui had any chance of taking the Matoran Universe back from Teridax, it was with that dilapidated robot.
Looking for a way to become the Great Spirit again, Mata Nui would travel Bara Magna and reach the Valley of The Maze. A labyrinth of puzzles and traps, it was once a stronghold of the beings that made Mata Nui. It’s also where the Mask of Life was created.
It’s in this maze where Mata Nui would discover the blueprints to his original body, schematics on fusing Spherus Magna, and an energy source powerful enough for a massive robot.
With the help of the Agori and Glatorian, Mata Nui would rebuild the robot and after getting used to its massive size, would begin to rejoin the planets in the hopes that Teridax would notice and confront him.
And that’s exactly what happened.
So I forgot to say it but 2010, the final year of the original Bionicle series, would begin with Mata Nui completing the maze and bringing the power source to the giant robot. The rest of the year would be an arduous battle between Mata Nui and Teridax.
Despite the year being focused entirely on concluding the stories of many characters, only six sets would be released, the Stars. They were very simplified, matoran scaled versions of characters throughout Bionicle’s lifetime. Not a lot of people liked them but they werrrre ok.
One of the Stars sets was of a yellow Rahkshi, which was one of thousands that began to spill out of Teridax’s body and onto the people of Bara Magna
Meanwhile, inside the Teridax controlled Matoran Universe, things were Bad. Rahkshi were everywhere, and the Toa were on the run. Tahu and the Toa would stop Teridax from producing more Rahkshi but it wouldn’t win the war.
Eventually, they would feel massive earthquakes, which made Tahu think that something was attacking Teridax. He and Takanuva manage to escape the Matoran Universe and reach Bara Magna, where they join the Glatorian and Agori fight against the Rahkshi and Skrall
They would encounter the Ignika, who would revert Tahu back to his Toa Mata form and tell him to wear the legendary Golden Armor and stop the Rahkshi once and for all
The golden armor would be a bonus piece in each of the 6 Stars sets, giving one last breath of collectibility to the Bionicle toyline
I had to make dinner so for brevity’s sake Tahu gets the Golden Armor
Brimming with power from the Golden Armor, Tahu wipes out the Rahkshi while the giants brawl in the sky above
The Rahkshi being destroyed would be just the distraction that Mata Nui would need to defeat Teridax once and for all. He would redirect a gravitational blast that Teridax unleashed towards Aqua Magna and Bota Magna, causing them to crash into Teridax’s head, killing him.
Mata Nui would use his waning strength to to bring life back to the newly reformed Spherus Magna
With the last of his power gone, Mata Nui’s body would collapse, leaving nothing but wreckage and the Kanohi Ignika. Mata Nui’s spirit was still inside it, and he decided that the people of Spherus Magna would do just fine without him, leaving him to rest in the Mask of Life.
And that, was that.
now if you don't mind i've been digging up all my old bionicle so i'm gonna Treat Myself and build something.

but in the mean time why not help me pay for gas, i have to teach art on saturday patreon.com/RyanGilleece
