I have taken a break from evangelical conferences, both intentionally and unintentionally. And this has been necessary for me to be liberated and be creatively free. This may sound corny, but I thank God for the courage and space for discernment and clarity! #worship #comingsoon
For the first time since 2014 my voice doesn’t feel broken. I am writing songs again. I’ve met some really cool ppl. Collabs with world renown musicians. Book deals and job offers. Letting go of the old/familiar has been the best thing!
I don’t need prestige or power. I don’t need to convince anyone or prove myself to anyone. This is so freeing! Creating is in my pores. And it’s in you too. ❤️
We need creators to have the space and courage to make all things new as acts of resistance and justice in today’s world. I’d love to hear what you’ve been making, painting, recording, reading, writing, etc. #create

The first principle of the spiritual life: to keep God in mind at all times. At first glance this sounds oppressive! To think about God at every waking moment? But this isn't what "keeping in mind" means. It has to do with awareness—what is classically called, "recollection".
Awareness is not only discursive thinking. It's similar to what some call "mindfulness", providing the context or atmosphere for our conscious experience. Being recollected is a habit, a hermeneutic, a way of perceiving. And it is developed both intentionally and unintentionally.
It's received from the symbolic context in which we're placed or in which we place ourselves. It develops by our actual acts of thinking, whether simple or complex. But many of us don't grow up in a context where the Christian Mystery is communicated in all the symbols around us.

As the title implies, "Generation Priced Out" chronicles the ways that decades of misguided land use and housing policy have locked an entire upcoming generation out of the opportunities for mobility and wealth building that previous generations took for granted.
@beyondchron has an interesting background as both a journalist and an activist. He's the director of the Tenderloin Housing Clinic, which provides legal assistance for SF tenants facing eviction. And it seems like he had a hand in every major SF housing reform since the late 70s

Thread on the Russia-Israel-Syria affair, which has culminated in the downing of a Russian Il-20 on September 17th just off the coast of Latakia.

1. I will first start by saying that I have read, both intentionally and unintentionally, lots and lots of opinions about this.
2. The main bulk of these opinions recycle the usual blaming of Russia and offer suggestions for how things “should” have been done and “should” now be done. The consensus seems to be that it is Israel that is solely to blame, and it should thus be severely punished.
3. However, even though Russia was lambasted by social media “experts” for the fact that the state of Israel still existed on September 18th, the criticism of Moscow’s policy vis-a-vis Israel’s general airstrikes in Syria has been unwavering.

It remains staggering how many people, both intentionally & unintentionally, propagate this idea that the reason some people live in poverty is simply because they don’t work hard enough. It’s *especially* egregious when it comes from people who themselves have enormous wealth.
Having millions of ppl living in poverty is not an inevitably, it’s a choice this country has made. People aren’t poor bc they don’t work hard, it’s in large part bc we live in a society with policies that often exacerbate the harsh realities of poverty rather than alleviate them
The fact that we live in a society in which a single man—literally just one person—can have a net worth of $150 billion while 13 million children to bed hungry every night is a moral indictment of our society and the political and economic system within which it operates.
