Menashi — who is up for a lifetime appointment — has a history of far-right commentary and his work on right-wing priorities at Education has raised further questions. Yet he's been stonewalling Congress and our FOIA requests have gone unanswered.
We obtained judicial nominee Steven Menashi’s calendars from his tenure at the Education Department, which show he worked to advance conservative priorities on religion in schools and rollbacks of Title IX rights: americanoversight.org/what-we-found-…
In November 2018, the Education Department proposed new rules that favor the rights of those accused of sexual assault on college campus. Menashi’s calendars show 37 entries for meetings about Title IX, the federal statute prohibiting gender discrimination in education.
Menashi's calendars also show multiple meetings about religion and "academic freedom," including one with the socially conservative Alliance Defending Freedom: americanoversight.org/what-we-found-…
