A slice of my story...
I don’t recall life before I heard the name “Jesus.” I received Him in childhood & have been fascinated with Him all my life. By the time I was a young adult, I had a great respect & appreciation for Scripture but it was not until 27 that God lit my heart up like a torch for it.
It was because of a teacher. I want you to hear that, teachers, because you have far more impact than you know. I’d never seen anyone love Scripture like my Bible doctrine teacher did. I caught it from him like a virus. I’ve never recovered. Fast forward 4 years. I was teaching->
a Thursday morning Bible class and some women in the class began to harass me about writing homework for them. Didn’t know how. Didn’t want to. Told them to go to Precept or BSF. They continued to insist. Tried a little something on a few psalms and they responded. Wanted more...
At this exact time I had landed in Exodus in my own devotional time and found this whole crazy section on God telling Moses to have a dwelling place built for him. Truly, I’d never heard a single sermon on it that I could recall. I was enthralled. Obsessed. So I decided, “Well...
I guess I’ll write them homework on this. So I committed to it before I knew what it would take. To say I was over my head is an understatement but to say that God sent me on the adventure of my life in Scripture is an even bigger one. I knew I was ruined for any other life. ->
I had a young woman come for prayer on Tuesday that is in this exact phase. She cannot get enough. I say this to you because all of you in Christ have a Bible student inside of you whether you realize it or not. The Holy Spirit who inspired every word is inside you & He WANTS it.
I don’t mean he’ll just interest you in it mildly. I mean, if you will keep asking him, he’ll develop in you a fiery love for Scripture & he’ll show you its brilliance and beauty and you will not just study as a discipline. You will study because you flat-out can’t get enough.

A few words on generosity. Recently a new widow in her late 60s came to me for prayer. Along with grief, the death of her husband brought financial needs. She referenced that her son-in-law was a multimillionaire & said, if necessary, he could make her a loan and charge interest.
A multimillionaire charging an elderly parent interest. I’m a bit baffled. Speaking in generalities here but what has happened to generosity? Have we, in our 1st world prosperity, simply grown increasingly selfish? Is it true what they say? The more we have, the less we share?
I’m married to a generous guy. One day he came charging in the house, wild-eyed, & made a beeline for the checkbook. “Babe, whatcha doing?” Him: “I’m feeling selfish!! That’s what!” I’ve thought about it many times. He knew the cure for his wave of selfishness would be to give.

Times come when there’s nothing left. Times when, unlike the widow’s plight in 2 Kings 4, the jar is bereft of a single drop of oil. In John 2, it was “no more wine.” For you, it may be another kind of nothing-left.
No more love.
No more energy.
Not one drop.
Jar’s bone dry.
No one on earth knew Jesus better than Mary in the opening pages of John’s Gospel. She knew who he was. If anyone at all knew what he could do, she did. She offered no histrionics. Simply, “They have no more wine.” Then she glanced at those around her. “Do whatever he tells you.”
There’s so much I don’t know. But 50 years in with Jesus, of this I’m certain: He can fill up that bone-dry jar of yours. When every ounce of love has left that relationship. When every hint of hope has disappeared in that situation. When all your spiritual fervor has evaporated.

It was right about this time my eyes blinked awake to the awareness of an alien feeling of pressure. Sat straight up. I was barely 22. Only been married 10 months. I’d been told I’d need surgery to conceive. They lied. I was just as glad. I’d wanted a baby since toddlerhood.

I climbed out of the bed & walked around a bit on feet I hadn’t seen from a standing position in weeks. Skinny legged with a belly as round as an Arkansas watermelon, I looked like a human tootsie pop in a yellow wrapper. I rubbed my lower back. Took a deep breath. It’d be today.
I showered & waited til it was daylight to awaken Keith. “I think I’m in labor.” He squinted at me. “You sure?” “Pretty sure.” He sat up on the side of the bed. “What do we do now?” I said “We get ready for church like regular. I need to go by & teach my Sunday school class 1st.”

I'm gonna say something that might be a little against the grain, but I would say to absolutely listen to Olly, because while I intimately understand the perspective of not being listened to, cis people speaking out takes a little bit of that burden off of me and mine.
I'll be honest with you, engaging with transphobic rhetoric takes a toll. If you're a trans person, and you're trying to speak out about transphobia, some of the stuff you have to be exposed to and talk about cut right to the bone. It freakin' GETS to you. Badly.
And this is absolutely not to undercut anything Kat Blaque has said in her latest video (which if you've not seen, you should drop everything and watch now), because god damn did I relate hard. She's absolutely right, and it sucks not to be listened to and believed.

2) First, the poignant- recent death of a church member. His family showed up sharply dressed in dark suits. He's from New Jersey, funeral will be there. Seems his family traveled to GA, their attendance today was powerful. He'd sat near front, about 3 rows back, always alone...
3) I've only been in this area for a couple of years. When I was rather new to choir, I noticed he was there for church early, on regular basis- which meant he had to hear us practice the same song we'd be singing during church. Me, "Sorry you have to hear it so many times"...

In February 2017, I was part of a small group of volunteers within @the3million who wrote a letter about our Brexit worries for EU citizens in the UK. We sent it to the 3 Brussels institutions and David Davis. 2/
Within a fortnight of our letter, Michel Barnier wrote back to us, inviting us to a meeting on 28 March 2017, which just so happened to be the day before article 50 was triggered. 3/

Jimin wouldn’t allow himself to be trapped on his shift for any longer than necessary.

“Go, go,” Taehyung hurried, taking Jimin’s apron to let him slip out from behind the counter more quickly. Jimin decided he could get the grounds out from under his nails at home.
This morning had been absolute hell. Two girls ordered seven drinks, Jimin made them all only for them to say they were supposed to be with almond milk.

‘Oh I’m so sorry,’ was he all he had legally been allowed to say at the time, while his mind had far more colorful ideas.
With Jimin officially clocked out, he slumped on the customer side of the now empty service counter, looking to his friend with tired eyes.

“You wanna grab dinner later?”
“I can’t, remem—?
“Ah, right...”

Jimin’s disappointment vanished as Taehyung suddenly smiled to himself.
