1. "Fräulein Sweetheart" from Young Romance #4 (March 1948) by Joe Simon & Jack. A very unexpected romance comic about a card-carrying Nazi who falls in love with an American soldier in occupied Germany.
2. The romance in this story goes awry because the narrator remains committed to German world domination.
3. Eventually the narrator comes to see the errors of her ways and foils a Nazi plot but the ending is bittersweet since she's not reunited with her American lover.
4. Anyways, Simon & Kirby romance comics (the pioneers of the genre). are very unusual -- very heavily freighted with politics and social issues (usually class & discrimination). A good collection here: fantagraphics.com/flog/young-rom…
