A key member of the Swedish Academy, Peter Englund, announces he is boycotting the Nobel Prize ceremonies. "To celebrate Peter Handke's Nobel Prize would be gross hypocrisy on my part," he tells Dagens Nyheter. Stunning development. web.archive.org/web/2019120609…
Stunning because the Academy is small - just 18 seats - and Englund is the only member with firsthand experience in Bosnia (where Handke is accused of genocide denial). Earlier this week, two members of the Nobel Committee for Literature resigned, one explicitly citing Handke.
