I know that people are looking for good news stories of 2019, including ones where our government stands up to protect people. As I related in this interview, where I got a #robocall, #robocalls are a scourge and a top complaint @COAttnyGeneral's Office.

In 2019, Congress passed--with the bipartisan encouragement of @NatlAssnAttysGn--the #TRACEDAct. This law requires providers to adopt new technology free of charge to consumers and promises to bring automatic blocking of #Robocalls. washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-sol…
If you are looking for how this law will help you, this @ConsumerReports discussion is a good primer. The law is not a perfect solution, but the tools it provides will make a difference. And that's good news. consumerreports.org/robocalls/how-…

If you are looking for clarity and sanity on this scary Texas suit, @jadler1969 tells it straight--this action is dangerous and is an attack on federalism. It is also sign that all is not well in our democratic republic. Thread and commentary 👇 reason.com/volokh/2020/12…
Here's the law--it is the province of the states to manage elections. In our case before #SCOTUS last year, the Court made clear that states exercise plenary authority "absent some other constitutional constraint." Chiafalo v. Washington, 140 S. Ct. 2316, 2324 (2020).
And here's the twist, the Tenth Amendment, which provides clear notice and warrant for protecting state authority, is what is at stake here. For one state to seek to attack another state's authority over its management of elections is passing strange, as Justice Scalia would say.

My thread on #JudgeAmyConeyBarrett: "the voices of the American people must be heard. By fighting for the progress made because of the work of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg & others, we can reject a nominee whose views are well outside of the mainstream.” 👇

I know that many are feeling cynical and frustrated--or even dejected at the thought of #RBG's legacy being undone by her successor. Don't. The time is to organize and use our voice to fight for the future of #SCOTUS.
"Confirming a nominee with a rigid ideology and pre-commitments to overturn important precedents will harm Coloradans: removing health care protections, rolling back equality, overruling #Roe, and allowing felons to possess firearms." We must stop it. coag.gov/press-releases…

The loss of #RBG leaves a hole in my heart. Her memory will continue as a blessing and her example in fighting for justice is an inspiration. I will miss her deeply. A few thoughts on her passing are in my statement and this thread 👇. coag.gov/press-releases…
I earlier wrote of what she meant to me, highlighting her commitment to equality, her “example of warmth and professionalism across traditional divides,” and her willingness to learn. She belongs to the ages now. philforcolorado.com/2017/06/24/les…
I will always treasure that I had the opportunity to argue in front of her. As fate would have it, I was the last person who had the honor to argue in front of her. Her questions, like she always was, were tough and fair. I did my best to meet her high standards of excellence. Image

As the child and grandchild of Holocaust survivors, this terrifies me. #NeverAgain. Thread 👇theguardian.com/world/2020/sep…
As we approach a new Jewish New Year, and reflect on the past year, we must acknowledge the rising hate and ugly face of white supremacy in all of its forms. The work of the @ADLMtnStates is a beacon and we @COAttnyGeneral are honored to partner with them to address hate crimes.
For those looking for an opportunity to commemorate the Holocaust, the yearly Babi-Yar Remembrance Ceremony is a powerful such opportunity. You can RSVP here: events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event… Image

To protect Colorado voters and our election system, our team worked late into the night to file suit against #USPS. We are taking action, working with SOS @JenaGriswold, to stop the Postal Service from misinforming Colorado voters and interfering with our election. Thread 👇 Image
Unless the court stops the #USPS, Colorado voters are expected to receive this incorrect statement, telling them that they need to request an absentee ballot to vote. That is false. Your ballot will be mailed to you. And even if not, you can still vote at a polling center. Image
Colorado’s vote at home system is a national model. Once you receive your ballot, you can mail it back or, as most do, deposit it in a drop off box. Our system makes voting easy, safe, secure, and reliable. Ideally, the Postal Service would be a partner in this effort.

Guy Grace, now retiring after his distinguished service as the longtime director of security for @LPSK12, is an inspiring leader and a model public servant. He was also a great partner for @Safe2TellCO and shall be missed. centennialcitizen.net/stories/little…
There's so much that can be said about his dedication and commitment to keeping students safe. After the Arapahoe HS shooting, for example, he re-examined processes and procedures and increased information-sharing. He was always looking to learn from tragedy.
Grace is a leader in addressing the school-prison pipeline, championing restorative justice strategies. As he explained: “Nobody wants to see a school-to-prison pipeline. Zero tolerance policies have fallen by the wayside, and that's absolutely for the best.”
