Has anyone asked a Remain politician why they're so dedicated to wedding the UK to the EU when it's a bloc that forces us to pay tens of billions to be involved with it yet doesn't import enough of our goods or services to enable us to have an equitable balance of trade with it?
Almost inevitably, a Remain politician would respond by claiming that the EU is the world's largest single market.

But it isn't. The United States of America is. The US economy is more than one third larger (34.4%), according to the IMF.
Then they would claim that the EU has kept the peace in Europe.

But it hasn't. NATO has.

Earlier today I exposed the failure of the EU single currency in a series of revealing tweets. Here they are. A thread. 👇
In 1998, the year before Portugal joined the €uro, the Portuguese economy was 5.8% larger than Thailand's.

Portugal's GDP is now fully 115.7% smaller than Thailand's.

Portugal's decision to drop the escudo and adopt the single currency devastated its economy.
In 1998, the year before Italy joined the €uro, the Italian economy was 17.2% smaller than the UK's.

Italy's GDP is now fully 39.4% smaller.

The EU is a protectionist economic bloc dominated by Germany and France. It is also a political union intent on morphing into a federalised United States of Europe, where European sovereign nation states are abolished and a central power in Brussels dictates all policy.

Unlike other trade blocs around the world, such as ASEAN for example, member states are prohibited from sealing their own bilateral comprehensive free trade agreements with other countries outside the bloc. Because Trade is an EU Commission competence.

The EU's protectionism hampers African economic growth by attracting raw commodities tariff-free yet placing hefty tariffs on processed commodities. It swamps Africa with subsidised food (chickens, for example), undercutting local African farmers. The EU is not benign.

Okay, let's begin at the start of what is commonly known as the Atlantic Slave Trade. It kicked off in the 1520s when the Portuguese completed the first transatlantic slave voyage from the African continent to Brazil. Other European countries quickly followed suit.
They formed colonies throughout South American and the Caribbean. There were two major slave trade routes. The Portuguese and Spanish occupied South America. And the British and French were mostly in the Caribbean. Here are a list of the former British colonies:

2/ Some of the arguments made in favour of Brexit are the UK’s ability to negotiate its own trade deals, most growth will come from outside the EU, the EU is “protectionist” and slow at negotiating trade deals.
3/ As we rapidly approach 29 March 2019 where the UK will have no trade deals to its name & is asking the EU to include the UK in its FTAs (& stay in the single market & customs union in all but name but with no influence) during the transition, the UK is not in a great position
