(1/3) At the end of day #7, we have finished hearing the presentations from the President’s lawyers.

For the next two days, senators will have an opportunity to ask questions of the House Managers and the President’s lawyers.
(2/3) I have a lot of questions, but first among them is this: why are the President’s lawyers opposed to witnesses and documents?

Why would the Senate not want John Bolton to testify under oath? Why would we oppose asking Mick Mulvaney to tell us what he knows?
(3/3) A lot of you have reached out to me in the past few days, and you overwhelmingly support witnesses and documents. We cannot be afraid of the facts.

(1/4) Impeachment trial day 9. Woke up this morning after about 4 hours of sleep, & all I could think about was what happened yesterday. Was breathtaking to watch President’s defenders transform completely from saying President did nothing wrong to President can do nothing wrong.
(2/4) We have a few more hours of questions—we’ve had over 13 hours. I hope for a little more insight after another long day. Everyone is looking ahead to the discussion tomorrow of witnesses.
(3/4) For me, it’s clear: why would anyone in the Senate vote against witnesses, only to find out later what Bolton knows about what really happened? That would be hard to explain to your grandchildren. The truth always comes out.

Every day during the impeachment trial I’ll be taking notes, which I’ll share some of here. Yesterday was day 1.
From where I sit, close to the doors in the second row of seats, I can see the faces of most of my colleagues: serious, focused, aware that the country is watching.
When the House managers came onto the floor, I felt the weight of history, and a small catch in my throat.

It was a relief to hear @RepAdamSchiff present the articles dispassionately, clearly, and rationally. We are all wondering what the President’s lawyers will bring.

Children shouldn't be suddenly abandoned at home or at school without information on their parents’ whereabouts, but we’re seeing that happen to kids with moms and dads facing arrest, detention, and removal actions.
Since I first heard kids were being cruelly ripped from their parents in this way, I committed to protecting children whose families are swept up in immigration enforcement. I’ve introduced legislation that makes good on my promise, but more than that, it’s the right thing to do.
The HELP Separated Children Act steps up efforts to keep vulnerable children safe with commonsense measures, like allowing parents to make calls to arrange for the care of their children and ensuring that children can call and visit their parents while they are detained.

As expected, Democratic Senators questions appear to be going mostly to House Managers & are solely designed to illicit a repetition of the case against Trump

Highly likely they are coordinated

This nice trick also means no rebuttal from defense team
And GOP doing the same so far

A much better process would have been for Senators to ask questions, with BOTH House Managers and defense team given time to answer the SAME question. The relative quality of the answers against the available evidence could then be determined
What we’ve got here is a little like what happens in Parliamentary systems like England or Australia: where elected officials ask their “team” (eg Prime Minister) a question like: “isn’t it true that our side is brilliant and the other side are dopes?”. Bad Q’s, worse answers

President Trump's lawyers are making some pretty aggressive arguments to the D.C. Cir. this morning about Congress' power to investigate him. Among other things, his lawyer says Congress has zero authority to act on conflicts of interest by a president.
Trump's lawyer also says the House Oversight Committee has no oversight authority over the president.
The panel seems somewhat skeptical of Trump's more maximalist arguments. They've been questioning his lawyer for almost an hour now, well past the 30-minute time allotted for his side of the argument.

2. Brian Kilmeade spent much of Fox & Friends criticizing Trump for calling off military strikes, arguing that it “makes us look so weak” and "weakness begets more attacks."
3. Steve Doocy and Ainsley Earhardt were more charitable, basically saying that Trump knows what he’s doing and will respond in due time and would probably use military force.
