Good morning and happy #NVCaucus day! We’re coming to you from Rancho High School.
11 different precincts are expected to report here today, which makes it one of the biggest locations in the valley. @8NewsNow#8NN#YLEH
As you can see, people will congregate in groups based on the candidate they support. Different signs are taped to the ground with names. @8NewsNow#8NN#NVCaucus
#NVCaucus volunteers will use iPads as a main source to calculate results, but paper systems and math posters are also on standby in case anything fails. @8NewsNow#8NN#YLEH
It looks like @GovSisolak has arrived at Rancho HS with First Lady Kathy Sisolak. He is speaking to young voters getting ready for #NVCaucus. @8NewsNow#8NN#YLEH
Here’s the scene inside the Rancho HS gym!
We’re told the last voter was just checked in, so we’re waiting for a final headcount to see how many voters candidates will need for viability to make it past the first alignment(round). @8NewsNow#8NN
Things are kicking off at Rancho HS, as the caucus was just called to order. We’re told 40 county delegates will be elected here, as four precincts are in this room (11 at this location.) @8NewsNow#8NN
We have 2 precincts in this #NVCaucus room. It was originally set to be 4, but because of early voting two are empty today.
One precinct has 81 voters (including early), so candidates need 13 or more to be viable.
The second has 55 voters, so candidates need 9. @8NewsNow#8NN
The group of @BernieSanders supporters seems to be the largest in this precinct’s first alignment.
It’s difficult to hear, but @BernieSanders supporters are making their case as to why voters should realign to their candidate for the second round. @8NewsNow#8NN
First alignment has just wrapped up for this second precinct of 55 voters (including early) and @BernieSanders is cleaning house again.
So far, he is the only candidate viable for the second round with 12 in person votes and 20 early votes. @8NewsNow#8NN#NVCaucus
Speeches are now starting ahead of the second alignment for this precinct.
