Political / memetic “horseshoe” theories are more elegantly expressed by the Borsuk-Ulam theorem, which basically states that a reduction of topological dimension guarantees the mapping of opposites to singular points.

If you observe a horseshoe, it implies relevant higher dims.
I should be clear, w/o getting too technical, that it guarantees at least one such mapping. It does not mean all opposites map to lower dimension identifications.
Should also note that it’s not technically a reduction of dimension so much as moving from a spherical surface to a Euclidean surface, reducing projective degrees of freedom.
