Visited 9 Indira Canteens of Vijayanagar and Govindarajnagara Constituency in the morning(8am) to check on food distribution, social distancing & safety measures at the venue!

My findings 👇👇👇

Marshal at the canteen told the distribution starts at
7am - Breakfast
12pm - Lunch
7pm- Dinner

But this seems to be 30 mins earlier than what is mentioned in the notification.

1 out 9 I visited is officially non-operational (i.e 133 Hampi Nagar is closed till 31st March).

1 out of 8 was distributing food packets during my visit i.e between 8-830. 104 Govindarajnagar 👇

4 canteens were closed and didn't had anyone to know about the operation status(123 Attiguppe, 126 Maruti Mandira, 128 Nagarbhavi, 131 Nayandanahalli).

3 canteens were done with distribution by 730-745am itself. 123 Vijayanagara, 124 Hosahalli , 125 Marenahall!

Marshals told different Canteen gets different numbers of packets based on indent. Ward 104-Govindarajanagar canteen behind had got 250 packets, others didn't mention but I think it's lesser; it did have people checking for food though. Quantity should be increased. @BBMPCOMM

At least in 3 canteens, I saw 10-15 people checking for packet during 5-10mins I was there but returned without food.

A local security guard who was regular to the canteen was upset that the packet was over as early as 730 :(

There seem to be a new order to close the canteen by 8 to avoid the crowd. Can you confirm this? @Karnataka_DIPR @DIPR_COVID19 @BBMPSWMSplComm

Marshal in Vijayanagara ward told, for Vijayanagara MLA constituency there are 3 Canteens operational but it has 7 wards - i.e only 3 out of 7 are open. We need to clarify if there are specific designated canteens for distribution. @Karnataka_DIPR @DIPR_COVID19 @BBMPSWMSplComm

I did speak to people who were walking in the park adjacent to Ward 123 canteen - they said it's not operational nor have they seen any packet distribution.
Are all wards not doing food packet distribution?

Safety measures at the canteen are taken care of with markings for social distancing, Marshal accompanying to canteen staff enforcing queues.

Marshal was asking people to wear masks. Staff had worn the mask too :)

#MyTake - Glad to see @CMofKarnataka @BBMP_MAYOR @BBMPCOMM keeping it operational and ensured safety and hygiene - but it needs to scale both "no of food packets" and also all 198 canteens should become operational. Suggest mobile-canteen as many Indira canteens are far for many.

Forgot to mention the most important part - today's breakfast was "Puliyogre" :) 😋
