I am also now *personally* offended any time someone in my life - even if they live far away from me - goes out when they don't absolutely need to, won't follow proper isolation protocol, or jokes about how they'll be fine so it's okay to go out.
I wouldn't accept them being homophobic, sexist or ableist to anyone, so why wouldn't these actions be JUST as offensive despite not endangering MY life directly?

They're still hurting, scaring, terrorizing or threatening the lives of OTHER disabled people around them.
They still don't care about the lives or wellbeing of those marginalized people. They're still being ableist. Just not to ME. That doesn't make it any better.

To me it's no longer any different than if they hurled homophobic or sexist insults at someone on the street.
....or threatened their lives bc they felt superior.

Would I not care just bc their words/ physical threats weren't directed at ME? No friggin way. They still just hurt another person. They still just waved their privilege around w/o shame. Still discriminated.
Still showed me who they are and how little they respect or care about people *like* me. Still let me know how they believe it okay
to treat others so long as I'm not around.
The reckless handling of COVID transmission IS ableist, ageist, classist, and is a literal threat to one's life. So if I wouldn't tolerate loved ones behaving that way to others in ANY other context, I cannot tolerate it here.

Also...?
It really friggin hurts. Stop hurting me.
