Watching the world slowly devolve into madness after a few days of isolation hits different when society has told you repeatedly to "stay positive" "overcome" "beat this" "be the inspiration" "go for the Paralympics" "mind over matter" after life-inhibiting disability strikes.
They abandoned so many of us, shut us up when we'd vent about how hard and lonely this is, shove platitudes into our mouths when we struggled with the adjustment, and sent us every video in existence of Inspiration P*rn to shame us into optimism.
