Stop the false narratives media

There was recidivism before #Covid_19
There is recidivism AFTER releases

You have to compare recidivism rates BEFORE releases with recidivism rates AFTER releases

Anecdotes make for TERRIBLE public policy and don't make us safer #LetMIPeopleGO
Think about it like this....

If the recidivism rate is high at certain times and lower at others you try to establish a baseline...then when changes happen, you evaluate the changes OVER TIME against that baseline
What is most dishonest about this kind of coverage is that the reporters HAVE TO KNOW that prior to reform, people were released who committed similar crimes before the change.

CONTEXT is intentionally withheld to make it seem like a crisis in order to drive clicks
Maybe some people don't know...but either way it is irresponsible and unethical coverage.
And here is another problem...as @JohnFPfaff has eloquently explained...it pushes policymakers to make policy only considering COST not BENEFITS

If 1000 people went on to thrive because of a particular reform and one recidivates...success should be included in the CBA
