@nypost The real agenda is to ROLL BACK not just bail reform, but also the prohibition against pretrial incarceration based on dangerousness.

This prohibition has been in effect in #NewYork since 1971 (when I still lived there)

@nypost This was never about their problems with bail reform, they saw this as an opportunity to throw away protections against the presumption of innocence using scare tactics and misleading anecdotes

@nypost In case you are not fully understanding this problem, if you want to understand how "dangerousness" is generally applied by the system, you need ONLY look back to #StopAndFrisk

Poor people of color are largely dangerous to the system

@nypost They are also FLAT wrong about discovery laws, New York had one of the 14th most restrictive discovery laws in the nation and they are just WRONG about how that has worked out everywhere else

@nypost This is not just about tweaking the reforms, they want to go much farther...this explains why they NEVER put any of the releases in context (people were regularly released prior to bail reform) and recidivism happened after cash bail prior to reforms

@nypost Make no mistake, Police, Prosecutors, and their allies in the tabloid press are trying to dramatically rewrite New York law to ensure they have the power to detain whoever they want regardless of the presumption of innocence.

@nypost Hundreds of thousands of New Yorker's are released from pretrial incarceration every year....ANY ONE OF YOU COULD BE ARRESTED...do you want to be detained on dangerousness or have the ability to be released protecting YOUR presumption of innocence?
