FALSE. The new laws expand background checks, re-impose a one-handgun-a month rule, establish a Emergency Risk Protection Order, require owners to report stolen weapons, ⬆️fines for guns left out in front of children 3/

Trump claimed that VA somehow hoodwinked people w/ these gun reform measures.

FALSE. Dems ran on gun reform in Nov. 2019 & it's incredibly popular

86% of Virginians support requiring background checks on all gun sales

73% support passing an Emergency Risk Protective Order 4/

Trump claimed gun reform takes away people's #2A rights.

FALSE. SCOTUS has found #2A is not absolute, govt can act to regulate it. As Scalia put it, “the right secured by the Second Amendment is not unlimited”.

Courts across the land have upheld gun regulations repeatedly 5/

Trump bragged about the coronavirus gun surge.

Reality is, Trump has responded to COVID19 by increasing access to firearms. Trump’s DHS deemed gun stores “essential” & ATF allowed gun stores to offer curbside pick-up. 6/

As a result, there are 100 gun stores that can offer drive through for every 1 COVID mobile test site

AND Trump's *OWN DOJ* is warning that "a recent surge in gun sales has increased already rising concerns among those of us working to protect people from domestic violence 7/7
