Coming down from the plateau a bit.
Best sign I've seen for the US fatality curve in 2 weeks
Please keep coming down
Mitigated by a rise in US cases today, back well over 2,000 again. Let's just hope that's a bad day on the way to better ones. Still very concerned about states that are now/soon opening leading to a rebound.
That graph @COVID19Tracking is on deaths, not cases, as I mistakenly wrote above.
Even with the couple of days closer to 1,000, we'll sadly still hit >60,000 deaths by tomorrow. @IHME_UW revised their model up yesterday (now ~74,000 thru August) but their point estimate is still very optimistic, especially with less mitigation in place.
The "dip" in the plateau turned out to be very short-lived.
We're back to 2 days in a row of over 2,000 lost American lives, > 61,000 total, and way off the revised @IHME_UW projection from Monday (Apr 27) ~74,000 cumulative deaths by August.
Yesterday's and nearly the same today
