I once had to sit through a painful immigration interview in which USCIS grilled my client *with video running* w/the express purpose of catching him in a demonstrable lie. Told client as soon as we walked in the room that this wasn't a game. He lied anyway. Fucking *life,* man
ICE officers routinely pretend to be cops, pizza guys, UPS--whatever it takes to get you to set foot outside your home so they can nab you. All totally fine and legal in the US of A. Are my undocumented clients "exonerated" bc they fell for it?

And I'm angry bc this is personal. A lot of my practice is trying to help non-citizens do exactly what Flynn is trying to do here: take back a plea, but typically bc they weren't told of imm. consequences. I would get laughed out of *any* MA court I brought this weak shit into.
I've heard the same speech many times on the record from DAs & judges about how serious the act of taking a plea is, how you can't just take it back any time you feel like it, the probative weight of an admission. No one ever told me about the exception for senior WH officials.
There are so many people more deserving of your sympathy for being coerced by cops than #MichaelFlynn. Like the Central fucking Park fucking Five, beaten into confessing by NYPD.
