The 4 major trouble countries now, #COVID19 pandemic:
Brazil, Russia, India, and United States (BRIUS)
Cases @OurWorldInData and Deaths @FT
(increase in slope or no descent) 1/2
In contrast, more than 20 countries have achieved flattening, horizontal case curves, a few at or nearing zero (add Hong Kong, a region)
i take strong issue with @NateSilver538's assertion below. The US is (more than) struggling and that IS attributable to our leadership. As is the case for only a few other major countries that got way behind their outbreaks w/ very high fatalities
Of the 69 countries that @FT tracks, besides Brazil, Russia, India and the US, the other ones showing increasing slope for deaths are Mexico, Pakistan, Peru. The rest on moving in the right direction
Of the 85 countries that @FT tracks for new confirmed cases, the picture is similar but add Columbia, Kazakhstan, and Nigeria. Also to note, 2 countries previously in solid shape for containing cases—Singapore and South Africa—experienced some runup, now apparent leveling.
