Surveillance apps, like @detect_study, launched a few weeks ago, now has >20,000 participants donating their resting heart rate data, looking for an emerging cluster of increase (de-identified). Likewise @kinsa uses smart thermometer body temp. Both have had ILI validation. 3/x
HR increases before fever. It has potential to detect pre-symptomatic state, asymptomatic carriers & those w/o fever.
A German version of @detect_study is now being used in >500,000 people for resting heart rate (HR) surveillance.
