A citizen is a person with recognition status as belonging to a nation or sovereign state.
A citizen is entitled
To the rights, privileges & benefits of citizenship, subject to limits provided in the constitution.
To a kenyan passport & any doc. Of registration/identification

Retention and Acquisition of citizenship
A person who was a citizen before the effective date retains the same citizenship status as of that date

Citizenship is acquired through birth or registration, it is not lost through marriage or dissolution of marriage

A person is a citizen by birth if on the day of birth, either parent is kenyan citizen, whether born in Kenya or not.

A child found unaccompanied, who appears to be less than 8yrs, and whose nationality & parents are unknown is assumed to be a citizen by birth

A person who is a kenyan & who on the effective date, ceased to be kenyam because of acquiring citizenship of another country, is entitled on application to regain kenyan citizenship.

Citizenship by registration
A person married to a citizen for 7yrs is entitled on application to be registered as a citizen
A lawful resident in Kenya for continuous period of at least 7yrs & satisfies conditions prescribed by an Act of parliament may apply to be reg as a citizen

A child who isnt a citizen, but adopted by a citizen is entitled on application to be registered as a citizen

A citizen by birth doesnt lose citizenship by acquiring citizenship of another country

Citizenship was acquired by fraudulent means
A person engaged in unlawful trade or communication during war knowingly to assist the enemy
Has withing 5yrs or registration been convicted for a term of more than 3yrs
