Take 15 mins. Watch this video. It's more important to you than you know.

This is what China is doing, but Western governments are on exactly the same path #technologically; they just have a different set of #rationalisations.

The #DatabaseState isn't coming. It's already here.
It doesn't matter if your Government's #justification is #innovation ("AI is cool!"), #PublicSafety ("Think of the kids!"), or #efficiency ("People are expensive, let's use algorithms instead") - installing the #tools of #totalitarianism only ends up in one place.

It was true...
...of @ukhomeoffice's centralised #biometric National Identity Register - the heart of the #IDcards scheme in the 2000s - and is as true of @DCMS's "Identity & Attributes Trust Framework" 👇 of which the first 'adopters' include the #HomeOffice (again)...

Happy to share our latest research on #FIDO2 password-less authentication using biometric #WebAuthn, with Leona Lassak, Annika Hildebrandt, and Blase Ur.

Preprint at bottom of thread. Paper to appear at @USENIXSecurity 2021. cc: @FIDOAlliance #usesec21

news.rub.de/english/press-…
Users hate passwords; #WebAuthn could render them obsolete. But hardware security keys (YubiKeys) are inconvenient. Fortunately, end users can also use their phones as #FIDO2 authenticators. The user authorizes each sign in using their usual unlock mechanism (biometric, PIN).
Using your fingerprint to sign into a website is new to most end users. Our research focused on users' initial encounters with biometric WebAuthn. Many will encounter WebAuthn for the first time via a small notification on a website encouraging them to adopt the technology.

No biological risk score data? Then no access, a digital lockdown awaits.

Thread:

1.

The only way the social-engineers will truly let us out is with the powerhouse marriage of #biometric & #blockchain digital health & identity systems, aka @ID2020 aka #VaccinePassports.
2.

I was here in July 2020, when I started reading about the long running plans by the @wef to develop digital identity-based services for health, travel etc. I often searched for the phrase’s ‘Immunity Passports’ or ‘Health Passports’ without finding many matches.
3.

For me there were tell-tale signs that the real agenda was progressing in the background while the masses were debating over testing, cases & masks. For me this was all background noise, so I took a journey to find out the true intensions behind the #COVID19 drama.

International Air Transport Association.

The International Air Transport Association (@IATA is a trade association of the world's airlines founded in 1945. IATA has been described as a cartel since in setting technical standards for airlines.

2.

The Travel Pass app, developed by the International Air Transport Association (@IATA), will allow passengers to present pre-departure tests or vaccine certificates on arrival at their destination, enabling them to sidestep quarantine or other restrictions.
3.

@IATA is currently in talks with the UK DfT over the apps use and to which the new 'Covid Status Certificates' for those who have been vaccinated could be added and tied to.

*sigh*

Tony's STILL banging on about #IDcards, nearly 20yrs later - 'cos make no mistake, that's what #VaccinePassports will become.

Just as WWII's [left 👇] became @10DowningStreet/@ukhomeoffice's [right 👇] with a centralised #biometric #NationalIdentityRegister behind it... ImageImage
...so will #YellowCards [left 👇] morph into 'just an #app on your #phone' [right 👇] - claimed to be 'not #mandatory', of course (unless you want to live your life, work or travel...) and with the centralised #biometric #registration Government has wanted all along. ImageImage
So here's a few questions the #HealthPassport headbangers must answer:

1a) When Heathrow re-opens, given (current) #vaccines don't prevent #transmission, aren't people still going to have to be #tested?

1b) If people have to be tested anyway, what's the point of the 'passport'?

The seven so-called 'ethical principles' are here:

biometricsinstitute.org/ethical-princi…

Many of which vendors are already #legally required to follow, and noting the completed mess they get themselves into over "ownership" in number two... 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️ ImageImage
I wonder how many of the vendors following these 'principles' *wouldn't* sell their #biometric wares to @metpoliceuk? (And not just because they failed to win a contract...)

The thing is, if your 'principles' don't meaningfully alter / inhibit behaviour, then they aren't really #principles at all.

Much less #ethical ones...

(1) Hey @Brkfldproprtl, looks like you just installed a terrifying #biometric #surveillance system in my building without notice or consent.

First off, when you subject tenants to disturbingly invasive surveillance systems, you might want to, you know, ask if we agree. 😡
(2) Next, the fact that I have absolutely no idea what the capabilities of the system are. Does this include #FacialRecognition? Clearly it has both computer vision and thermal imaging, but what else? One person in the lobby says it has mask detection AI, is that true?
(3) Who keeps this data? For how long? Is it routinely shared with police and/or public health authorities? Do you have a #privacy policy, and if so, where is it?

I know not every tenant is a #surveillance expert, but did you think none of us would care?

Hmm. Now this is an... interesting move!

@ukhomeoffice is (unilaterally?) collapsing two Commissioner roles into one:

And as he - in fact both Commissioners - point out:

There are also significant practical issues, e.g. will @pritipatel resource this as one or two offices? And...
