Trump has always been a master of projection. He will only see his flaws in the actions of others, and he will bend the fabric of reality to justify his worldview with the help of sycophants in the press and government. His horrid #coronavirus response is just the latest example
Trump has created the American Carnage that he claimed he saw in America during his inauguration speech back in 2017. Projection 101. It was a slow, grueling process born of years of incompetence and spitefulness but under #coronavirus he's finally achieved it
Remember Trump called Hillary a Russian Puppet when he was the one seeking deals with Russian intelligence? Remember when he railed against lawlessness under Obama but now stokes the flames of white nationalist terror cells? He creates the evil he sees in the world
#Coronavirus A disease that disproportionately kills black and brown people managed by an administration that is riddled with men & women with white nationalist ties is a recipe for passive eugenics. And I'm not the only one who sees it

#AhmaudArbery won't be an outlier story if this administration is allowed to continue after November. Lynchings of black men and women followed by non-action from a feckless and complicit court system will simply be on overdrive if White Nationalism wins at the ballot box
The violence encouraged by this president mixed with the break down of what passes for a functional society under #coronavirus will only make it easier for racists to act out their long simmering war against black Americans under the guise of 'freedom' or 'fear' take your pick
Shootings at grocery stores, fast food restaurants and convenience stores over #coronavirus safety procedures? Where is that madness coming from other than a White House that openly encourages flouting public safety with implicit and explicit violence ?
And please believe Joe Biden is no savior for these problems. He might simply slow the decay. A new president will have to take a radical approach to re-structuring government and society in order to till the land from Trump's American Carnage.
Just understand that Trump TOLD us this was what he was going to do on inauguration day 3 years ago. Most Americans didn't vote for him. Now #coronavirus has given him the freedom gut whats left of America and pocket the rest for him and his family

I had a conversation yesterday about an old colleague of mine, white guy, early 40's living in the mid-west. It's a scary reminder of what the LONG term consequences of #coronavirus will be even as the Trump administration rushes to pre-maturely #ReOpenAmerica
40-something married professional white guy had been doing all the right things during #coronavirus . He lives with his wife who, as a cancer survivor, had a compromised immune system and his elderly mother in law. They'd been in #selfquarantine for months just to be safe
Somehow he contracted #coronavirus . Must've been on a rare trip to the grocery or drug store. He didn't go anywhere else. It got bad quickly, breathing difficulties put him on a ventilator. He managed to survive #Covid_19 but in many ways that's where the real challenge starts

The issue with states like Georgia re-opening has more to do with mean politics and nihilism than actually saving the economy.... And the numbers will bear that out
Red state governors know that 're-opening' businesses will take people off unemployment which in the short term saves the states some money. The long term impact will of course cost more. Much more, in human lives and actual tax dollars
First you have the increased risk of workers contracting #coronavirus which at a minimum will put them out of work for weeks, potentially cause long term physical issues that prevent them from doing their jobs (strokes, heart issues etc.) or possibly death

A little story about "Essential Employees" during the #coronovarius from a faculty perspective. Those of my students who still have jobs are often 'essential employees' but not MDs and Nurses, they're cashiers, secretaries and food servers. They're on the frontlines too
I start each class with a check in, just asking how they are doing and the level of economic stress that college kids are under is as bad as it is for adults, often with the added weight of student debt. #CoronavirusPandemic just makes it worse
One student works at a national chain, everyone is trained as a cashier, but the store only provides gloves not masks. She's refused to be moved from her station to the front, because she doesn't want to choose between health & her income but that's not the only challenge
