In keeping with enthusiasts congratulating UP for suspending all labour law for 3 years. My new proposals for further reforms

1. Environmental laws tend to be rent-seeking too. So suspend them all for five years. Everyone can set up any kind of polluting unit anywhere.

2. Market, polluting entrepreneur and communities can openly negotiate how much pollution they want in their waters, lungs ans food

3. Because we have horribly slow judiciary and horrible policing systems we shall also suspend these two for 3 years to revive equity, equality and justice in the society.

4. The electoral politics in India is built on crony-capitalism and black money so we shall suspend elections of all sorts for 10 years to revive our democracy.

5. Well then what is a State left to do? Suspend it for 3 years.

unsolicited advice to commenterrati friends who are going to write their columns soon: at least read what laws are being suspended and think what that does in each instance. dont parrot old pet lines.

A rent-seeking system to be replaced with... no law? Right.

Rent-seeking favours two actors: The corrupt in the enterpreneurial class and the corrupt holding State power.

Dismantling laws give the unscrupulous more power not less.

Go beyond your favourite glib dogmatic lines. Read, imagine the real Indian political-economy working even if you are too cut-off to spend time observing it from close.
