Long, long, long before Al Qaeda.

They've practiced "leaderless resistance" style terrorism since.

Fun fact - their spokesman is Donald Spitz.

He's a Vietnam vet, operates the AoG website, and has been the spiritual advisor to several Christian terrorists, attending their executions.

He's thought to reside in Chesapeake, Virginia.

Roger Waagner (aka Clayton Lee Waagner) is affiliated with Army of God.

Remember the 2001 anthrax letters? Waagner was behind several of them that fall.

September 2001, he made FBI's Most Wanted for carjackings, bank robberies, and assorted gun violations.

Army of God's first anti-abortion terrorist act occurred the same year of their founding: 1982.

Abortion provider Hector Zevallos and his wife were held hostage by three men identifying themselves under the name "AoG."

First known attack perpetrated by the group.

By 1985, Christian Identity's neo-Nazi anti-abortion terrorist group AoG had moved on to bomb attacks.

By 1986, Army of God was in my hometown, prepared to launch the "Abortion Wars" of the 1990s.

This is a period no one remembers, and everyone should.

A successful campaign of Christian terrorism in the heartland, culminating in the 2009 assassination of a doctor - IN CHURCH.

1986: Dr. George Tiller (Navy veteran, life-long Republican, devout Lutheran) sees his women's health clinic firebombed for the first time.

He rebuilds, posting a sign amidst the rubble: "Hell no, we won't go."

1993:

Army of God's Shelley Shannon fires five shots at Dr. George Tiller as he enters his truck, its windows encased in double-sided, bulletproof class. “Did I get him?” she asks.

George went back to work the next day.

1995:

AoG' Shelley Shannon was convicted in federal court. The judge called her a terrorist.

She received no terrorism charges, but plenty of prison visitors - among them Scott Roeder.

2009:

AoG affiliated Roeder walked into Reformation Lutheran Church on a Sunday, where Dr. George Tiller served his congregation as an usher.

Roeder gunned him down while his wife sang in the choir.

Rewind to 1997.

AoG Christian terrorists prove years ahead of Al-Qaeda in the Internet game.

The Nuremberg Files appears, publishing the names, photos, addresses, phone numbers, license plates, and more, of clinic workers, doctors, and volunteer escorts.

1996-1998: Eric Rudolph (vet) launches a spree of attacks against women's clinics and LGBTQ targets across the southern United States.

This also included the bombing of Atlanta's 1996 Olympics.

He won't be caught until 2003.

1998: Army of God attacked an abortion clinic in Birmingham, Alabama.

They murdered police officer Robert Sanderson.

Paul Jennings Hill, an affiliate of Army of God, murdered Dr. John Britton and James Barrett, his bodyguard (retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel).
