The article I linked earlier in thread gives a run-down of Army of God, but I'm going to Tweet out a few key dates in the history of the group before I log off.
Under the weather, struggling in general, and way behind.
But this matters IMMENSELY.
By 1986, Army of God was in my hometown, prepared to launch the "Abortion Wars" of the 1990s.
This is a period no one remembers, and everyone should.
A successful campaign of Christian terrorism in the heartland, culminating in the 2009 assassination of a doctor - IN CHURCH.
1986: Dr. George Tiller (Navy veteran, life-long Republican, devout Lutheran) sees his women's health clinic firebombed for the first time.
He rebuilds, posting a sign amidst the rubble: "Hell no, we won't go."
Rest in Peace and Power, George.
1993:
Army of God's Shelley Shannon fires five shots at Dr. George Tiller as he enters his truck, its windows encased in double-sided, bulletproof class. “Did I get him?” she asks.
George went back to work the next day.
1995:
AoG' Shelley Shannon was convicted in federal court. The judge called her a terrorist.
She received no terrorism charges, but plenty of prison visitors - among them Scott Roeder.
2009:
AoG affiliated Roeder walked into Reformation Lutheran Church on a Sunday, where Dr. George Tiller served his congregation as an usher.
Roeder gunned him down while his wife sang in the choir.
Rewind to 1997.
AoG Christian terrorists prove years ahead of Al-Qaeda in the Internet game.
The Nuremberg Files appears, publishing the names, photos, addresses, phone numbers, license plates, and more, of clinic workers, doctors, and volunteer escorts.
Marked for death.
1996-1998: Eric Rudolph (vet) launches a spree of attacks against women's clinics and LGBTQ targets across the southern United States.
This also included the bombing of Atlanta's 1996 Olympics.
He won't be caught until 2003.
1998: Army of God attacked an abortion clinic in Birmingham, Alabama.
They murdered police officer Robert Sanderson.
Rest in Peace and Power.
1994:
Paul Jennings Hill, an affiliate of Army of God, murdered Dr. John Britton and James Barrett, his bodyguard (retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel).
Trump's election has revived Army of God - we've warned you for years. The #COVID19 pandemic is a "godsend" for this assortment of terrorist groups - and you STILL don't see it.
my dr. is unexpectedly out of town, which is super great because I’m out of ADHD meds that are already always on back order by a week, we’re using the oven for heat because the water heater broke thursday, and kitten is currently trying to free the blood python
2022 is amazing
Maybe I’ll just cope through the unmedicated ADHD for the week by compiling a master thread of #ShitMyStudentsSendMe since I can’t concentrate for shit
