Today's insight: Scripture can do the rebuking of others, not you.💡

So, I was redpilled in politics 4 ys ago (praise God) & I learned to think for myself more.

Now I'm doing that for my childhood religious indoctrination. My method is to start reading short passages of scripture to see what they *actually* say, iso the "teaching" by humans.

My parents and the pastors and leaders I knew had the best of intentions. But they didn't tend to let scripture speak for itself enough.

You can access a plethora of Bible translations and study guides if you want to DIY fact check as you would for a political question.

Being the humans that they are, some church leaders can't seem to resist wielding a bit of power over others if they falsely believe they have some.

For example, some think they should go around rebuking others, because it says so in the Bible. Well, it doesn't. Not really.

Rebuking others, especially in the highly personal area of faith, is not a good idea. It drives people away. You think God isn't powerful enough to be quietly working away with each person Himself?

I'm not mad at anyone, I'm too happy these days to fall into that again.

I just know each day when I read some of the stupid, fascist shit that's happening in parts of the country that I love, the USA, I need to go find some chicken soup for the patriot soul, elsewhere.

The Bible is a pretty good option. J/s.

Just as we see the less patriotic political leaders drooling as they seize power they don't have, using a pandemic as their excuse, church leaders do that too.
