Before tear gas was fired, a group of riot police retreating towards Wan Chai was outnumbered years protesters on Hennessy Road. Objects ranging from long umbrellas to plants were hurled at them. They deployed pepper spray and pepper balls in response.

The young man stopped and searched by riot police on Lockhart Road said loudly to the police,”There is something I must say, where were you guys when 7.21 attack took place in Yuen Long?”
