I will explain "why" in a series of tweets so bear with me.
In India, Hindus faced centuries of oppression which is the case with Black folks in America as well.
Hindus - majority in India
Black folks - minority in America
Hindus were slaves for centuries under Abrahamic religions.
So were Black folks in America.
Hindus = Oppressed historically
Black folks = Oppressed historically
Oppressor in both cases -Abrahamic religion (Chrislam, as i like to call it)
Hindus faced RELIGIOUS discrimination (and still do)
BLACK folks faced/face - RACIAL discrimination
The majority Hindu IS NOTHING LIKE THE MAJORITY IN AMERICA
US CENSUS:
White = 76.5% (Majority)
Black = 13.4%
Please wait for me to post this thread in its entirety. All information will be posted.
Do not jump to conclusions until then.
Thanks 🙏🏼
In India, laws are against the majority e.g. Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowment Act
• Slavery legalized - 1641
• Hereditary Slavery Law – 1662
• Anti-miscegenation laws – 1691 till 1967
• Naturalization prohibited – 1790 – 1868
• No military service – 1792 - 1862
• Slave Trade Outlawed (not Slavery) - 1807
• Freedom in Canada - 1819
Contd.
• Underground Rail Road (was used to transport slaves to free areas) - 1831 -1865
• "Moses" Harriet Tubman (a black woman and an underground rail road conductor) escapes from Maryland- 1849
contd.
• Civil War - 1861 - 1865
• Emancipation Proclamation - Jan 1,1863
• Slavery Abolished - Dec 18, 1865
However, there were many laws in place that still kept Black population in acute poverty and discriminated against them.
Contd.
• George Washington had 300 slaves
• Thomas Jefferson had 175 slaves
Just imagine that slavery was institutionalized.
Ok, let us talk about what slaves were actually freed
This date is called "JUNETEENTH" June 19th - Celebrated as the commemoration of ending of slavery (Again on paper. We will talk about why)
Contd
"Juneteenth" did technically become the day slaves were freed. However, many legal hurdles and restrictive laws were placed that extended their "slavery"
contd
• Black Codes - Many states made "free" black folks to sign yearly labor contracts.
• Jim Crow Laws - During reconstruction, southern states passed "Jim Crow Laws" which was FINALLY abolished in 1964 (17 yrs after Indian independence)
• Forced "free" labor on plantations became a norm AFTER slavery was abolished.
• Some states even restricted the type of property they could buy. Real Estate is a generational asset.
• No right to vote
• Curtail the freedom to hold jobs
• Segregation of spaces based on race
To contrast - "Untouchability Offences Act" was passed by Indian Government in 1955 (9 years before America) & everyone had voting rights (gender/religion) in India
The "Fair Housing Act was passed in 1968 which ended discrimination in housing for Black folks (on paper)
The most mind boggling thing i read (& saw affects of) was "Red-Lining" - why today "Black neighborhoods" are in acute poverty
contd.
A very good case study of how to destroy a city is "BALTIMORE". This institutional racism is still alive & well in that city. Recently, Govt. started an initiative called "opportunity zones" which was supposed to serve poor
contd
• Took away the money saved by this poor city (it is autonomous) & diverted it to wealthy "White" neighborhoods
• Instead of poor areas of the city, wealthy areas were called Opportunity Zones by the state.
contd.
In India, the metro location (wherever it is) DOES NOT discriminate between minority or majority population.
If you don't have access to jobs, how will you earn ?
Let us dissect #BlackLivesMatter & how religion comes into play here.
Also, remember the media propaganda against #Hindus in all series ? We are shown as THUGS !
This is exactly what happens to the Black Community. That informs our opinion.
It started in 2013 after Trayvon Martin, a 17 year old child was k!lled by a CIVILIAN - George Zimmerman. He was ACQUITTED & proceeded to auction the weapon he used to K!ll that child.
Now, it has been hijacked by some ppl
•Laws are against both the communities
•Hindus like "Kashmiris, Bangladeshi, Pakistani" have lost their roots just like Black folks have
•Majority appeasement in America but not in India
THEY ARE NOTHING LIKE INDIAN MINORITIES
THEIR PAIN AND PERSECUTION IS REAL AND IN THE LAWS OF THE COUNTRY (Latest discriminatory law was scrapped in 1995 in America)
Minorities in India have ALL RIGHTS
HINDUS WERE NEVER OPPRESSORS !
What oppression looks like
Mughals are an example
Godhra is an example
#KashmiriHinduGenocide is an example
We, Indians are better in giving rights to ALL CITIZENS regardless of their RELIGION.
Abdul Kalam ji is a good example.
When America was still thinking of giving rights to "colored" folks, we were well into our independent Democracy
Please do not associate with the American RW nor the LW
American RW/LW is NOT THE SAME as Indian RW/LW
And, wait for the links 😎
