W. E. B. Du Bois is a black civil rights leader in the US. Since the late 1950s, China's diplomacy has been increasingly turning to the left, advocating world revolution and giving material and moral support to the national liberation movement in Asia, Africa and Latin America.
On October 1, 1966, a black man walked towards Mao Zedong on the upper floor of Tiananmen Gate. He took out the quotations of Mao and asked Mao to sign for him. Mao happily signed for him. His name is Robert E Williams, the civil rights activist.
After Martin Luther King was assassinated, in order to support the struggle of black Americans, Mao Zedong issued a second public statement on April 16, 1968, in support of the black American struggle against violence. In 1969, William ended his exile and returned to the US
In March 1968, some radical black people held a meeting in Detroit to announce the establishment of an independent "the New African Republic" in five southern states of the United States. Robert William, who was exiled in Beijing, was elected as the first president.
The Panther Party is an active black left radical party in the US in the 1960s. They borrowed the well-known slogans of Mao Zedong, such as "out of power with guns", "serving the people", "all power belongs to the people", "three disciplines and eight points of attention", etc.
Chairman Mao's quotations became a must read bibliography of the Black Panther Party.
The successful example of China provides a good reference for the members of the Panther Party to develop their own revolution plan, which makes them abandon some theoretical views of Marxism Leninism that are not suitable for the reality of black people in the US.
After Huey Newton, one of the leaders of the Black Panther Party, was arrested in a conflict with the police, the voice of "champion Mao says free Huey" appeared in the procession of the Black Panther Party demanding the release of Newton.
Mao Zedong provided a unique way of revolutionary struggle for the black Americans, so he was welcomed by them. This path provides a Marxist model of colored or third world countries that can challenge white supremacy and Western countries.

As a result of the insistence on armed self-defense and community autonomy, many leaders of the Panther Party were executed, assassinated or imprisoned for a long time. The FBI raided the home of one of its leaders, Fred Hampton, and shot him to death in bed.
When Huey was released from prison, he announced that he would give up the armed struggle. The Black Panther Party split into two groups and who followed Eldridge Cleaver turned into the underground. However, more members were discouraged and left the Party and never came back.
Huey Newton is getting crazier. He's addicted to drugs, he's hanging out with street gangs, he's involved in the drug trade, he's underground prostitution. The Party collapsed and disintegrated. Huey's last home was killed in the street in 1989 because of a gang dispute.
In its heyday, the Panther Party developed tens of thousands of members. But by the mid-1980s, the party had completely disappeared. Huey Newton, who was willing to "die for the revolution", eventually fell into a miserable situation, just for the moment of freedom.
