Sacred groves are protected forests with their endemic species of plants and animals and tribes having their own rituals, deities, medicinal plants, protected trees and animals. Problem is our encroachment n lack of inclusivity of the tribals. Read -

Thet have special names, and deities around the native animals n plants and revered religiously. our family temple in many cases ..
1. Devrai of Maharashtra
Dev-van of Himachal or (Devta ka Jungle) are dedicated to a particular deity. Most of the groves are managed by the temple committee. The temple committee comprises of
Kardar,Pujari,Bhandari and Gur.

Sarna of MadhyaPradesh
Pateliya community, one of the three principal tribes in Jhabua- These tribes or adivasi, including the Bhil and Bhilala, revere and protect kalam trees which are part of ‘sacred groves’.Their God kalmdeo is believed to reside in the tree . source: Mongabay
kavu of Kerala - various kinds are seen like sarpakavu (snake - sarpam) named after the animals. Ayilya( nakshatra) pooja is done to appease the sarpam .Theyyam is a festival observed by the people. each family has a spl kavu n deity.

Kovil kadu of Tamil Nadu
local folk deities are usually Ayyanar and Amman and tree spirits are called Vana devatais- forest God or aranyaka devis.

Matagudi, Dev gudi, Gaon devi of Chhattisgarh
Tribal communities still reside in these areas and 30% of them are ST as per last census. Their festivals, marriage ceremoniies, fairs, cultural rites and rituals are aligned with the sacred groves.
