1/6 Although the majority of #COVID19 cases reported in Canada are adults, no age group is immune and cases have been reported in all age groups, including among children and youth.
2/6 PHAC recently published an article in the Canada Communicable Disease Report, providing a short description of #COVID19 cases reported among children and youth (<20 years of age) in Canada up to April 27th. canada.ca/en/public-heal… 
3/6 Canadian data to date show that children & youth are more likely to experience mild illness or show no symptoms at all from #COVID19; 11% of lab-confirmed cases in children & youth were asymptomatic compared to 2-4% of adult cases.
4/6 Severe outcomes of #COVID19 are rare among children & youth. The most commonly reported symptoms were cough, runny nose & headache; only 2% needed hospital care and NO deaths have been reported in the <20 age group in Canada.
5/6 Children and youth can spread #COVID19 to others, even if they look & feel healthy. #ProtectTheVulnerable by helping kids to maintain #PublicHealth measures especially around grandparents/others at higher risk of severe illness. #TogetherApart
