Origin of problems. Many farmers are reluctant when it come to pest and diseases management and you'll always find a seedling when being transplanted has thrips and some fungus already like downy mildew ...this is multiplication of fungus if transplanted in that state

Feeding program
40% of that fertilizer is usually lost to the environment.For "young onions" it is always advisable to cover the fertilizer with the soil. rem onions have shallow roots...but when they are at vegetative stage you can expose the fertilizer because of canopy formed

Watering/Irrigation
Onions are being starved. If you're using #dripirrigation, water your onions daily..

For furrow irrigation..always make sure your soil is moist.

Planting depth ..

Onions are not to be planted so deep. Train your farm managers not to plant it more than 5cm
Onions planted too deep will just have heavy vegetation but no bulb..

Bulb is what equates to money

.Spraying should be early mornings.
.Spray against weeds should be done after 1 to 2 weeks after transplanting
.Avoid spraying herbicides when you have the true leave. Your crop will be stressed.
.Check on the compatibility of this fungicides and insecticides

millions of farmers are busy planting onions not knowing it's about to hit ksh 40 per kg.
