Okay...praying as I type and for my twitter friends as you read.

Trying to be very clear here.
Communication is a two way street.

My job is to be as clear as I can-and be humble and patient when others tell me they hear me say something-whether I intended it or not.
2/19
My job is to keep my “street” clean as possible and when “reviled to not revile in return” and to keep “entrusting myself to the one who judges rightly.”

If I believe someone is negatively interpreting or if someone is misrepresenting me intentionally- my job is to love.
3/19
If I believe-and hundreds or even thousands of others agree that I have been clear BUT there is one person I can serve by trying to be clearer - my job is to love that person.

So here is clarity- for ALL my twitter friends I love.
4/19
I love you and want to encourage you in Christ and in Christ alone.

Sometimes I will quote Christ & it will hurt you because of His clarity and the Spirit’s work.
In that case I will grieve that my words caused you sorrow but like Paul I will only pray that your sorrow is
5/19
a Godly sorrow that leads to your repentance (2 Cor 7:10) -

And while I grieve at your sorrow I will rejoice at the potential joy it might produce in you.
Where Godly sorrow is present-I should not and will not ask your forgiveness for speaking & doing the Lord’s will.
6/19
Sometimes however, I will be doing my best to share truth and I will not be as clear to some of my listeners as I intended. This could happen either because of what I said or how I said it. When this happens- what was intended to be “wise words that bring healing”, instead
7/19
become words that feel like the “thrust of the sword”. This not only grieves me-it is an opportunity to ask for forgiveness & as appropriate try again.
Jesus never misspoke.
Jesus never “knew sin nor was deceit found in His mouth”.
When He was misrepresented or maligned...
8/19
He did not “utter threats or revile in return.”

I am not like my Lord in perfection but surely by His grace I can be like Him in His humility.

And like Him I can “trust in the One who judges rightly” and therefore not worry about what the “Twitterverse” thinks of me.
9/19
Unlike my Lord I am not always perfect in speech or in 220 character statements and/or in what articles I link.
Therefore when helpful I can-LIKE I AM NOW-ask for forgiveness for a “sword thrust” to a reader/hearer I hurt even if no malice or hurt was intended. Forgive me.
10/19
Intention is not the determinant.
Motive is not ultimate.
The clarity others have is not relevant.
When I can serve you by being gentle, humble, patient, forbearing or kind in responding to your pain, I by God’s grace will.
11/19
This humility isn’t enabling any foolishness. This kindness isn’t always born from agreeing with every perspective.
Instead, this seeking of forgiveness is me as a fellow human being doing what I can to serve tou/others so that the discussion I want to have is preeminent.
12/19
My goal is never to prove I was justified in my initial tweet or statements-That would be pride & foolishness.
My goal should never to be understood-My goal is to love.
My goal is to be a minister of reconciliation.
My goal is to as much as I am able be at peace with others
13/19
Therefore when I can respond to your pain or confusion- or own the confusion I caused-I should rejoice at the chance to glorify Christ by following in His steps...not His steps of perfection but His steps of humility. I want you to know Christ and His passion for all “men.”
14/19
I want you to know of Jesus’ love for all people and be clear about the Father’s hatred of all that divides us. #racism #bigotry #tribalism #identitypolitics #injustice #PoliticalCorrectness #sexualidolatry #WhiteSupremacy
I want you to know my Savior and His love.
15/19
I don’t want you to love me.
I want to love you in Jesus’ name.
I don’t want you to think I never make mistakes.
I want you to know that I am a sinner who has been forgiven and who has received mercy and so I easily forgive and extend mercy to you.
16/19
I love you friends. Please forgive me for my imperfections. Forgive me for my tone that makes it hard for you to hear God’s truth from me. Forgive me for my slow sanctification that makes it hard for you to see God’s goodness and love for you through me.
17/19
I will let you examine your heart.
Your tweets. Your responses.
Your texts. Your emails.
Your accusations.
Your name calling. Your “street”.
May the Lord direct your steps & bring grace to your heart as He has mine.
I want to defend the gospel & God’s Truth. Nothing more.
18/19
I am not scared of being misunderstood.
I am horrified at the prospect of being the reason you misunderstand the gospel.
I pray you see in me someone who loves Jesus & therefore loves all people & who speaks out against racism & it’s cause-SIN
and it’s solution-Jesus.
19/19
Let us not grow weary in doing good for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. Gal 6:9
