1/ After working with over 1500 founders in the last decade, helping them launch their ideas, set up teams, merge, exit, pivot and more, I’ve reached one solid conclusion – founders need coaches, not mentors.
Where the above statement sounds conclusive, it is not.
2/ Coaching and mentoring is a process that needs to be opened up in parts and through a process. Mentoring primarily focuses on a long term relation formed between two individuals – it is based on respect and commitment.
3/ Not anyone can be your mentor, nor can you be a mentee to anyone. It's a relationship that grows & matures over time, & exists as an unsaid agreement b/w 2 parties. A coach serves as that guide, sounding board, listener, adviser, but with a timeline in place & KPIs in sight.
4/ Coaching is a service & way of doing things.
It's neither counselling nor consultancy or training. Coaching is based on a fundamental promise – RESULTS.
The practice of coaching is governed by some best practices, some rules & regulations and a whole lot of people skills.
5/ #Empathy, active listening & reflection lie at the core of what a #coach does and make you do. Rest assured, once you agree with a way forward with the coach, your training period has begun!

One way or the other, a coach will get you to deliver at the end of each session.
6/ Given the nascent stage of our #entrepreneurship industry, our founders need a coach who will work on them while they work on their ideas.
#Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximize their own performance and efficiency.
7/ Today every institution, #business and startup is looking towards an unprecedented situation created by the #Covid_19, which has crumbled the economies all around the globe and has changed the dynamics of how businesses used to operate
8/Layoffs are on a surge & businesses are filing for bankruptcies one after another. Furloughing has claimed almost 30 million jobs, & @neimanmarcus & J.C. Penny are a few big names of the industry who've filed for bankruptcies in order to restructure or liquidate their assets.
9/ Only those who adapted fast and lean, are the only ones that did & will survive. Some industries found this unfortunate pandemic in their favor, while others did not. Both type of companies lie on different ends of the same spectrum.
10/ In the times to come only those businesses will survive whose founders will sustain & grow through the challenges.

Founders make ideas & coaches support these founders. A coach can always become a mentor, but if not, then he/she will still push you towards effectiveness.
