Teachers are not trying to get paid to sit at home. If your kid doesn't log on we cannot teach live. That is why we made videos, slideshows, and handouts. Your kid cannot sit tethered to a laptop the whole day. We need to be realistic about the amount and pace of work.
Teachers had literally 3 days training. Vacations were cancelled we worked straight through. The powers that be are weaponizing parents and kids against teachers and are gaslighting us all. This is literally about our very lives.
We are being sold a narrow selection of choices and no one is thinking outside of the box. We are rushing and thr experts are not being consulted, respected, listened to and obeyed.
Experts are looking at air filtration systems and the spread of #Covid_19 Are we forgetting that NYCDOE cant even get air-conditioning in all its classrooms and we have many without windows, even entire buildings with no windows to open for fresh air.
While we are not being given input, or info, plans are in motion. Teachers and social workers and counselors are being excessed when they are most needed. In the press parents are being told 9 to a class in person, chapter leaders being told 19-24 in a class.
Teachers have not all applied for health accommodations yet. Those numbers will impact live in person instruction. Whats with all the money being used for outside curriculum software and programs and not for our kids and schools? Less teachers =more computer based instruction
