Class size and workload, that impacts quality of life and time spent focusing on student needs.
Terrible PD, lack of investment in teacher development, no way to move up but administration (fake teacher roles in nyc contract dont matter)
Layers of injustice and weak grievance process that only exposes teachers to retaliation.
Curriculum initiatives that snatch autonomy from teachers and are not better, culturally representative or relevant.
Looking around and realizing your colleagues are being pushed out and there is no future...
Realizing why teachers dress the way they do, climbing stairs, different temps in rooms next to each other running from class to mtgs, multitasking, taking work home...
Opening the newspaper to have your career denigrated... and feel demoralized.
