To soothe the anthropologist and journalist in me, I joined @epw_in’s Engage in 2019, where I got the space to build visual narratives of academic articles & deep-dive into EPW’s Archives to curate exhaustive reading lists.

Here's a #thread of some of the cool work I got to do.
Designed by @lalposter, here's an illustration I curated of @durbakatha & @mrinalsatish’s eye-opening research on how evidencing of rape in S. Asia is embedded in colonial assumptions, and perpetuates stereotypes of women, their character and bodies. bit.ly/2UCeqsq
How has the trauma of the Partition been internalised by India's collective conscious? This timeline is based on Gita Viswanath's and Salma Malik's research on how the Partition came to be depicted through Hindi cinema. bit.ly/2J3qa1O
Curating @epw_in's #ReadingLists has been the most therapeutic aspects of the work I got to do. For instance, in this one I took on the empty pursuit of social justice thats been the hallmark of Indian politics & the glaring failure of its economy. bit.ly/2vL6QD7
I also curated a series of reading lists that particularly looked at #climatechange, especially from perspectives that are most often overlooked in the deluge of headline-grabbing announcements. For instance, this one looks at #climatefinance.

An essential narrative that is lost out in talks of #climatechange is that of the gendered vulnerabilities that it brings about. This then throws up the challenge of revising the patriarchal frameworks in which we image policies regarding climate change. bit.ly/3e0KcIG
What happens when systems in place for climate governance are over-run by the neoliberal agenda? Do international institutions really have the power to govern climate change policies? Can they hold accountable private sources of finances? bit.ly/2m5LU4I
The #floods in #Assam, just like last year and the years before it, remain grossly under-reported. Written this time, last year, this reading list looks at just how deficient India’s disaster management is, and remains to be till this day. bit.ly/36nBjot
Curating these #ReadingLists were cathartic precisely because they allowed me to claim my various amateur academic pursuits. For instance, this one was written for the #econhistory enthusiast in me, and remains to be one of my fondest reading lists. bit.ly/2RGE7bm
Alot of my anger at the headline-grabbing relief statements during the onset of #COVID19 was mitigated through this one which looks at inadequacy of India’s #PDS. bit.ly/3dhSo5G
Then there was this one, directed at the absolutely negligence with which the government has dealt with, and continues to deal with, the labouring class during these #COVID19 ridden times. bit.ly/2VQRlEj
More of my anger at the empty speeches & administrative havoc caused post-pandemic can be seen here. While India has multiple instruments to record health data, management of the same's been terrible. How its fared in current times is anyone's guess. bit.ly/2z59cP3
If you’ve been kind of enough to stay on till the end of the thread, do go check out @ts_cattiot's work whose illustration and vision when it comes to creating absolutely anything is most definitely unmatched.
As well as @kiekarta’s work. He’s an ace and has curated some of the most engaging features on the platform.
