1/ This is important for everyone to know. Since #COVID19 was declared a global pandemic on March 11, 2020, Carlingview Manor #LTC run by @Revera_Inc and other LTCHs have been on outbreak on and off. The longest stretch on outbreak was 100+ consecutive days.
2/ When on outbreak (minimum of 1 positive case), residents are confined to their floor or possibly even their room. Again, this happened for 100+ days at many LTCHs in #Ontario and across the country.
3/ This means NO family. This means complete isolation. This means NO fresh air.
4/ At Carlingview Manor, residents who smoke are allowed outside during an outbreak, while others are not, as verified by @ottawahealth.
5/ I spoke with @ottawahealth today and questioned how this is fair. They assured me there is a process to get residents who smoke outside safely.
6/ I said great, then we can get all residents outside safely!
7/ @ottawahealth said that Senior Management in #LTC can, and has always had the ability to, develop a protocol for getting residents outside safely and that @ottawahealth will review the protocol and help implement.
9/ We can't let residents in LTC be trapped, isolated and imprisoned any longer.
10/ We can't let residents be stripped of any more basic human rights in their final stretch of life.
