Another beautiful combination to read at once would be Lord #Buddha, #Socrates & #Confucius. It a great coincidence that such legends & monumental men lived in the same period in 3 of the most thriving ancient civilisations.

It is amazing indeed to see that Greece which is considered as the birthplace of Democracy, had its most celebrated thinker oppose it all his life, his passionate disregard for it was eventually never bought.

It is though interesting to see that even though it was tried repeatedly, the most basic of Confucius’ ideas of family values, structure and kindship were not to be defeated, first by the monarchs & then by the Chinese nation & still lay at the very foundation of the country.
While Buddha’s middle path has come to be accepted almost as an universal truth in all walks of life. His other ideas of universal brotherhood, respect for all forms of life & a simple life are though praised but rarely practiced.
These thinkers & philosophers are as relevant today as they were tomorrow. Reading about them can be an overwhelming experience but surely enriching. Most of them are anyways used to impose ideas & thoughts by various sections, they are rarely read & understood.
Many many books on the Life of Buddha are available while Socrates lives more in the writing of Plato & Confucius would be referred to or mentioned in anything to do with China.
For starters, one may like to read Confucius’ biography by Jonathan Clements, Siddhartha by Herman Hesse & The Republic by Plato. #books #Philosophy
Also, for non readers, there is a series on some platform, names “Genius of the Ancient World”, you may see it, on these three thinkers only. Beautiful it is.
