They expect that nobody really will read these and that no reporters will cover them. Perhaps they’re right. I hope not.

These will be looked back on as the building blocks of something unimaginably horrible years down the road.

It’s fascinating on many levels. Let’s start with the Coast Guard’s Palantir contract.

@ConMijente and @JustFuturesLaw have been out front leading a No Tech for ICE campaign.

What’s the Coast Guard doing installing this tech partnership? Read here:
Then there’s this, from CBP, which @ReichlinMelnick is already busy unpacking: dhs.gov/sites/default/…
Apparently in compliance with the 3-request rule in #FOIA, they’re also releasing ICE FOIA requests about covid, including one by @weareoversight

dhs.gov/sites/default/…
I’m unaware of another facility-specific affirmative release from ICE with this much detail: dhs.gov/sites/default/…

It’s about the Prairieland Detention Facility in North TX, owned by LaSalle.

Gourgen Mirimanian died there in April ‘18 after being refused a cardiac consult.
Here’s FEMA telling folks who at the agency will be confirmed as participating in the WH #COVID19 task force. dhs.gov/sites/default/…
Here’s over 400 pages from March and April of TSA letting employees know they had to stay home due to #COVID19 exposure. If people paid me to do this sort of thing I’d #FOIA these exact same docs for the months of May, June, July, and August. dhs.gov/sites/default/…
Here’s what I believe to be the most detail CBP has ever released publicly and not in the course of litigation about the agency’s pandemic response.

Disappointing lack of creative acronym assignment that would’ve allowed us to call it the “Pied Wiper” dhs.gov/sites/default/…
Ooooh. This document appears to be your most target-rich environment for stories, #Immigrationtwitter journos:

How do we know? Because they’ve got files in the link that’re different from the title. Files like these 📷

Ever wonder what the Border Patrol’s #FOIA taskings look like?
Cc: @David_J_Bier - What’d they give you in response to this request?
Here’s Border Patrol and CBP’s #FOIA office blatantly abusing Exemption 5, which covers pre-decisional deliberations about agency policies — NOT the factual underpinnings of those comms. @NicoletteGlazer taught DHS this lesson in Stevens v ICE (NDIll). No change, though.
Here’s CBP blatantly violating their own Detention Standards by holding a person w #COVID19 for more than 72 hrs.

What’s so galling about this is that a key reason you can’t hold people for longer than this period in CBP stations is their inability to provide medical care.
For DC political reporters, here’s Rand Paul shilling for the firearms industry, asking DHS to declare the process of making guns and ammo a “National Critical Infrastructure Industry”. dhs.gov/sites/default/…

If it’s just a “shooting sport”, why is it “critical infrastructure”?
Apparently this is what $5k (or maybe $4k) gets you: A Senate sponsor asking your nominally sportsman and huntsman-based advocacy to morph into critical national infrastructure.
By May 2020, Rand Paul, noted doctor, has determined Guns and Ammo are critical for surviving the pandemic but masks are not. nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1…
